I believe you will need permission by Youtube. I would not be surprised if it is part of an advertising program and thus at some cost.
Other than that, I believe it is a iframed page with some flash banner. Should be easy to do if you only could get Youtube to let you

That is very impressive but looks like it is a custom ad campaign with YouTube so probably wasn't cheap to implement. I found this apprently tippex did something simile last year

Very cool. Its like 'Hunter shoots a bear' that got crazy viral sometime back. Its advertisement and of course they have paid youtube the big bucks or partnered with them in some way. Yes, we'll make a killing if we could create a video like that, it would go viral and really take IM to the next level. Thanks for sharing Maddi

Wow !!!!!

Like other posters have said, I'm sure the ad agency must have had YouTube on board for this, and paid big bucks. This is the company that made it: MediaMonks | Creative digital production (not an affiliate link). As far as the OP's question goes: I wish I knew! Something tells me they used more than just a flip camera and Sony Vegas .

  It costs 10'2 of thousands of dollars to do something like that as you have to pay Youtube to do it for you (you provide the concept and they do the creative) - you also need to be spending a certain amount on Adwords to be allowed... at least this is my understanding from last year when we inquired about creating bespoke pages like that.

Wow, that is crazy and definitely ahead of its time for now. They used Adobe Flash to make it and were able to place the flash video in the header of their channel page. Definitely some big bucks paid to YouTube for this one.

You can tell when the page loads that something is a little different. The text and features of YouTube are a little fuzzy because it's a screenshot meant to look like the real thing.

Definitely very cool!

I bet production of the video and Flash was $50k to $60k or more. Depending on the firm they used. I know some interactive agencies that won't touch this stuff for under $100k. Then whatever Youtube charged to let them post an interactive piece. You won't be finding this kind of power in a $17 WSO anytime soon
