3 Months To Get An Article Approved?!

In doing some article site testing, I submitted and article on Jan 14th to about 100 article sites (through an automated submission process). In the intervening 3 months, the article was published on less than 10 of those sites. One of them, Article Dashboard, just today published the article.

For those who are more experienced in article marketing...is this kind of result typical? It seems pretty unreasonable.

I submit manually to a few sites, including EZineArticles (where I now have Diamond Level status). But it seems I may be missing something when it comes to automatically submitting to many article sites. Suggestions?

Thanks!

Ken

I don't know about the automated side of things, I do a lot less articles than you and I do them manually each time, but you really do have to pick them as a lot are an absolute waste of time, I submitted one to Article Dashboard, and a month later and no approval so I just deleted it out of my bookmarks, I can't be bothered with all that, any longer than 2 weeks and I don't use them for article submissions.

Yes, Article Dashboard really does take a long time. I just had an article approved today that I submitted in January. But I still use them because I get some decent traffic from my articles on that site and since I publish in a couple of other places, plus my website and blog, I don't mind waiting. I don't consider it a waste of time because of the traffic I get.

Idea Marketers is a really good place to submit articles. Your articles are approved really quickly and I get good traffic from them too.

Since the Google algorithm hit last month, some article directories have been taking a little longer to review and approve articles than they used to. For instance, Ezinearticles was taking almost a month to approve my articles right after the Google change, then my last three articles were approved in about four days.

Those are really the only three directories I use anymore because they're the only ones I really see any traffic from.

When I used to mass submit, I've had directories approve my articles weeks later. I didn't worry about it too much since I had approvals from the major directories like EZA, GoArticles, Articlesbase, etc.

For me, that would probably have been above average, to be honest.

I never got even close to 10% to be published and indexed, when I did mass directory submission.

If you'll excuse the observation, Ken, I suspect that what you may be missing is that every backlink you get this way is a non-context-relevant, PR-0 backlink, and that typically you'll need 50,000 - 100,000 of them (and that's out of the minority that ever get published and indexed!) to confer the link-juice equivalent to one relevant authority-site backlink. In other words, it really is a thankless task.

    Automates stuff delivers least.
More real work included delivers most.
Also duplicate content is seen widely across all internet, which gives you bad feed only...

    Thank you!

So you used an automated tool to publish your article to 100 directories, and got a 10% success rate. (Sounds a bit low to me, but I have never automated this step with a program)

My suggestion would be to try something different. Next time you want to mass submit an article, try this...

    1. Write your Title, Article, Description, and Resource Box.
    2. Create a list of the directories you want to publish to.
    3. Hire a Virtual Assistant from Fiverr ($5 for 1-2 hours) and have them syndicate the article to each directory on your list.

Yes, this can cost you 5-10 dollars, but you should see a success rate much higher than 10% because each article is being published by hand.

Your automation program could have had a mishap communicating with servers, had an error placing content in the correct locations, or any other type of error commonly associated with programming. (Programs have bugs, servers change, who knows.)

If you hire someone to do the work for you by hand, it can be done to your expectations, and it may only take you an hour to verify the work was completed instead of 4-6 hours (or more) to post the articles yourself.

Just an extra angle to work from. Hope it helps.

Duplicate Content applies only when you have repeated content on a single server. Putting the same article on 100 article directories isn't part of "Duplicate Content", it is Syndication. Otherwise, every news website on the net would be a PR 0, and wouldn't make the SERP's.

I stopped doing automated submissions. It's better to pick and choose the directories that are going to bring the maximum return. I believe most article submission software will let you select which directories you submit to - I suggest being more selective.
