Shall I change the domain name?

I'm new at internet marketing, so please bear with me. I have a blog that shares our experience as owner builders. It is hosted through blogger and it has it's own domain name (ourfoursquare.com). It should appeal to owner builders and those who enjoy working on their house. I'm trying to make it profitable. Should I change the domain to something that reflects owner builders (those who build without a general contractor)? Will this help or hurt? I want to get off on the right foot. Will it hurt that it is being hosted through blogger? Any suggestions or advice would be so appreciated.

Well you could buy another domain name and redirect the new one to the old one... do some marketing around the new domain name to see if you got more traffic with the new one and decide which one you want to keep or just keep both of them.

    my 2 cents

I would be inclined to advise that you use a keyword directly related to owner builders as your domain name.

You will need to do some research to make sure you find one that has at least 100 searches per day and preferably not more than 30 to 50 000 competitors.

If you have a problem with finding the right keyword then let me know and I will give you a hand.

As for the domain, there is less weight for seo given to exact match
domains than what was once enjoyed. You can brand your company
name, or make it something that gives people an idea about the site.

If you want to rank in the search engines, there are more important
elements for you to think about and do.

I suggest you get off blogger and get a hosting account. You will have
control over your blog, plus it will be yours, more options, etc.

Having a blogger blog may not hurt, but it also may one day for who knows
    what reason.
