Another £1,000 reached with Amazon!

I read a thread a couple of days ago about someone hitting their first $1,000 mark with Amazon.

I’m pleased to say that today I've also reached my first £1,000 with Amazon!

It feels quite amazing as it doesn't feel like that long ago when I made my first money online which was only £3.29 amazon commission, now some months later I've reached £1,000

I have great plans for this year to grow my Amazon earnings!

Congratulations, Barry. It appears that you've worked out a site creation formula that is effective for Amazon product promotion - now your next step is to reinvest some of your income into building more sites. With the number of products available on Amazon, the potential for scaling up is virtually unlimited!

Thanks for all the positive replies & I'll try to answer all the questions as best I can.

    "How old are you?"

    I'm 29 years old

"How many website do u have so far?"

I have 6 at the moment & around 80% of the income has come from one website.

"How did you do it? Care to share your secrets with us?" "Care to share your business model?"

It's no secret but it did take quite a lot of learning & hard work! It's quite a simple model that many people on here are using. Find a product related keyword that has a good monthly search volume that you think you can rank for, build a good converting site that ranks for the keyword & watch the sales come in!

    "Any useful tips you recommend?"

Don't be scared to compete, by this I mean don't just choose low competition keywords because you think it will be too hard to rank for keywords with higher search volumes. Most of the earnings I've made have come from 1 site & the keyword for this site has an exact match local monthly search volume of 13,000. When I looked at the competition for this keyword there were some big brand websites on page one & another IM'er with a PR5 site & lots of good back links, he was in the number #1 spot... until I came along with my little PR0 site :p

I almost turned away from building a site targeting this keyword because I thought the competition was too tough, now he's sitting in position #3 & I've taken the number #1 spot & I'm making multiple sales every day.

I plan on building 2 new sites next week, one of which has a main target keyword of 20,000 exact match local searches monthly. A lot of people just target low competition, low search volume product related keyword, which is fine as it works for a lot of people but I like to go for the big fish. I actually enjoy the competition - face it, don't shy away from it!

Build a nice looking website, don't just slap something together as quickly as possible. Spend a little time building an attractive website that people will actually want to use & stay on.

Make your pre sell product pager as high quality as possible, fill the page with as much well written information about the product as you can, include pictures, star ratings, customer reviews & an nice clear button with your affiliate link imbedded.

Well that's a couple of tips that work for me!

"Would you like to share your niche/market with us?"

I'm sorry but I spent a lot of time on researching the niche & put a lot of time & effort into building & ranking my sites, you can understand why I wouldn't want to give this information away.

Just to note, these earnings are under the Amazon UK affiliate program which caps all product sales at £7.

        No.

I target a main generic keyword such as "washing machines" ( just made up for this example )

What I'll do is rank the home page of the site for the keyword "washing machines" & then have around 6 pages on the site about a particular model, such as "Hotpoint WMD962G Ultima Washing Machine"

The product page is not a review, just a very detailed & unique product description but I will incude a customer review on the page from Amazon.

Ranking this way I'm getting the best of both worlds, the large search volume home page target keyword plus ranking the internal pages for product specific keywords.

The tips you mentioned are very good. In fact, when I started shifting my focus from spending too much time in building links or doing SEO work to focusing most on building high value webistes then my site rankings, traffic and conversions soared when compared to earlier times. I do spend my time in SEO activities and link building but have noticed that I have to do less of it when my content is good.

Christmas is a wonderful and prosperous time for anyone who markets Amazon products, so start gearing up for it by building more sites that market popular products that will be purchased as Christmas gifts! There are always evergreen mainstays that will always be bought during the holiday season, so you could focus on those for now.

I outsource some of the back linking, mainly article writting & submission, Squidoo & hub page creation.

My best links have been from contacting site owners in the same or related niche to my site, I'll ether offer to guest post or buy a text link somewhere on the site if the price is right.

Blog commenting on topic relevant sites & some outsourced social bookmarking too.
