Google Desktop freezes

Hi...

Google Desktop used to work fine but now it constantly freezes. It would find files in 1-2 seconds but now it takes 30 secs or more.

Any idea what I can do to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Uninstall it, delete all you temp file, restart your machine and install it again. It should work fine

      Thanks for the reply...

I have uninstalled, deleted temp files, reinstalled etc, but still the same.

What I find odd is that I have selected to not scan emails, but Google Desktop still shows emails in the search results.

I have even excluded my C:/ folder from search, but it still looks in there.

This may be some registry issue...

      Thanks.

Yeah i also think you should uninstall the program and install again. Make sure to restart your system after uninstalling.

lol. Two people telling you to reinstall :-P

Ok, first off have you installed anything new recently? If so what programs?

Next, Go to piriform.com and download CCleaner, and run it. Follow the cleaner prompts. This will remove all of the temp files that might be cluttering your system.

If you think its the registry, CCleaner has a feature for that too. Simply follow the prompts and backup your registry before running the registry tool.

Get back to me if that doesn't work.

      I haven't installed anything new.

I downloaded and ran CCleaner. The issue persists.

I think Google Desktop has gotten overwhelmed with all the emails stored on my PC. But why does it index them? I have unchecked "emails".

      Thanks.

How many emails? Around here 500,000 wouldn't be surprising. Do you have spare hard drive space? If you don't then defragment won't work and things will slow down and get clogged up.

Because finding info quickly is crucial to building a business.

I'm not asking about music, movies or reality shows.

      Thanks for the question.

I would say to contact google. I could not find anything about your problem online. Sorry. I do not use google desktop myself so I don't really know much about it.

Give a try to uninstalling and reinstalling Google Desktop. You'll find this issue referenced in the Desktop Help Center.
