Squeeze page at top of google search

I was surfing around in a niche I've been considering and found a squeeze page at the top of a google search result. It had an opt-in form for a free book. I thought squeeze pages didn't show up at the top of Google results. No content, just a description of the free offer. It was sponsored by a drug company. Do they have the power to get to the top of Google with a no content page? How did this happen?:confused:

    Most likely it's linked to a blog. You might not see the link until you get to the thank you page after opting in. But that's probably the case.

      the site might be optimized properly....most of the sites that are in the top of the google search are the sites that is optimized well and have a good reputation in the search engines...

    Yes this is possible. A great example is to type in the keyword "something" into Google and see what comes up first. This is the whole site:

    As for squeeze pages ranking - they can rank well if you do proper backlinking. You should still keep your title, meta data, and even copy on the page SEO friendly.

      Shoot, I probably wasted everyone's time. It was probably an ad. I can't find it again with the same keyword. Man, I feel bad about that. How many years before one feels even a little less dumb doing this? Sorry guys.

    A squeeze page doesn't mean it is bad. People will still link to them, and I'm sure the SEO is outstanding.

    Getting a top position in google is not a difficult job at all.If you have a good number of backlinks for your targeted keywords then your site or squeeze page also can get a higher position in google.

    Squeeze pages can rank as long as you disguise it in the eyes of google. You see there are robots that crawl pages to determine whether these pages are optimized. These robots look for header tags and things like that. There are softwares out there that can hide these tags and only show google the content yet show a squeeze page to the human eye.

    If you saw a squeeze on first page of google, that's probably what the marketer has done. Brilliant!
