There will always be questionable online marketers, but they don't tend to last for too long. IM at large will never die, as long as there are honest marketers out there, and I'd like to think that the majority of us are.

As long as the internet is alive and kicking, there will always be someone to market products to....well you would think anyway.

  • There is NO WAY! They would have to shut down the internet completely. Sure they will add taxes, and try to create loopholes. But IM is here to stay for sure.

This has nothing to do with internet marketing in general and everything to do with US law.

The Dept. of Justice has levied huge fines on earlier online gambling concerns and arrested some executives. This is just the next step in the US trying to stop online gambling.

Internet Marketing could very well be dead in the future...

          It could be dead tomorrow...

          So could you...

If we turn into China and regulate everything internet the government could shut down the internet! Poker sites, torrent sites, porn sites, animal porn sites... Things of that nature can probably be pretty lucrative, but probably aren't the safest niches to get into. IM does not equal poker sites...

I had a point somewhere but I forgot it b/c this thread is ridiculous... This is why I stay away from this subforum LOL!

Online gambling has been outlawed in the US since 2006 - internet marketing has absolutely nothing to do with what has happened to these online casinos.

These casinos were trying to skirt around the rules, and I'm surprised that they were able to evade the authorities for this long. Online casinos are still alive and well outside of the US.

Not really, a lot depends on your initial niche and keyword research, and in addition to that you really need to curate your autoblog well - it certainly isn't a "set and forget" operation like many people think it is.

That link has nothing to do with marketing and everything to do with the American public allowing their law enforcement agencies to do whatever the hell they like without protest.

Seriously, arresting online gambling site owners? Madness.

As someone who formerly made a living playing online poker (before the crack down in 2006) I think its important to point out there is a whole lot more to the poker story.

These guys were laundering money in an effort to circumvent US laws. I read about this yesterday and couldn't believe how stupid these people were.

One thing the US gov. did was make it illegal for banks to transfer money to poker sites therefore making it difficult/impossible for players to fund their accounts. These bozos set up false businesses such as "flower shops" and had the banks send funds there where it was rerouted to the poker site. That's a big NO NO lol.

A lot of the reason online gaming came under attack has to do with tax laws btw because these sites are operated outside the US and are able to avoid the huge taxes Casinos get hit with.

In the end, it was and is all about the money. Since IM'ers have a legal responsibility to pay taxes I doubt any government is going to go after them now or in the future.

      Cheers,

      James

I have a sneaking suspicion that one day, the Feds are going to go to far, and push "We the People" over the edge ...

People in America are angry and getting madder by the day with all the crap the Feds keep pulling ..Control this, take away that, restrict, regulate, legislate, etc ..

Our liberties, and Constitutional rights are being stolen more and more & one day, it will come to a head ...

Isn't it interesting how the Feds can continually legislate our abilities to earn money but they just can't seem to find a way to stop the oil companies from riding herd over us?

Things that make ya go "hmmmmm" eh?

Nah, this issue is very un-common. I would wish that online casinos would not have affiliates. Yeah, I been a victim of a crooked affiliate, not knowing...

Yeah, get a free guide to make $250 per day!! Bet on red and keep betting red till it comes back on red, always double on losing bet. After 3 days, I was up around $500, next day, lost it all. Online casinos, like brick and mortar casinos aren't stupid, if you try to screw them out of money, you're the one who's screwed.

Regular IM won't die, it's the essence of online business and all large companies do rely on affiliates to promote their products. Don't worry my friend

Don't get me started on all those crazy doomsday people who have a new prediction every day about the end of the world.

Seriously, online gambling (in a prohibited jurisdiction) and IM are totally unrelated. Don't be one of those paranoid fear mongers that run around saying that the sky is falling down - if you're one of them, then I think you had better just stick to a regular day job.

          LOL.

          My 2 cents:

As long as we live in a market economy, and the internet exists without any extreme sort of regulation, then IM will always exist. There will always be something people need to buy, and therefore there will always be the need for marketers who can provide and/or help them find what they need (and be rewarded of course $$).

In a one word answer: NO. - IM will NEVER be destroyed by the feds or anyone. As long as there is an internet, there will be people using it for marketing.

In a longer answer, it may be severely limited, smeared, attacked, and altered in ways we cannot forsee... But that's what makes IMers awesome.. we adapt quickly to change.

As long as the internet exists, so will internet marketing. It may be in a different form compared to now but it will stay exist.

I predict it will be red taped to the eye balls and it will mean the major corporations will easily gain the market share, just like in the offline world.

Those people are criminals. Breaking laws is not a good thing in any business... Think about it... they knew they were breaking the laws but still continued just as if the Internet was a free for all unregulated medium.

In the future, there will be tighter rules, but as long as we don't break them, they will leave us alone.
