Reliable ways to monetize a Top Google ranking

I have the goal of wanting to make $1000-$2000 per month from a website.

I have already ranked a few sites using SEO that were aimed at promoting some Clickbank products by doing a review but despite these 3 sites having a number 1 or 2 ranking for their keywords I find that each of these sites only make around $100-$200 a month.

I tried to build a list and send a 10 day email campaign to the subscribers that opted in but I removed it as I found that I didn't make any sales with the email campaign. At least 2 or 3 sales a month is better than none.

I am pretty disappointed and I am wondering what methods other warriors are using to make decent money from a site that can get a top Google ranking?

I am not really interested in Adsense as I have heard that it is difficult to stop click fraud and having your Adsense account shut down.

I see some of the experienced warriors on here mentioning that they are making a couple of thousand per month from a site and I am wondering generally what methods are reliable to do this????

It all depends on what the keyword is.

It could be a great money keyword or a generic keyword with lots of visitors.

Something that is generic but gets a lot of views would be great for adsense ads.

Whereas a keyword targeted towards a certain product would be great for a product review or buyers advice.

You can experiment with implementing a bit of both.

It is all about split testing and it is hard to advise what the best investment of your space at the top of Google is if we don't know what sort of traffic you are attracting.

    Cheers,
    Dave

The keyword was the name of the CLickbank product.

I'm not looking necessarily for a way to monetize the particular site that I have built.

I am wondering whether I need to built sites in a different way in the future? For example maybe I shouldn't focus on product reviews for Clickbank products because they don't really convert???

Is it just hit and miss as to what types of sites make money?

Well firstly let me say your making far more money than I am online at the moment. $100-$200 is not bad going!

If I was in your position I would probably mess around with placement of affiliate links. For example Chris Guthrie says most of his affiliate sales come from in-text links. So try that and other variations.

You could try creating some free ebook/videos/whatever to compliment the paid product. Give people the free stuff (via opt-in) then on the thank you page you offer them the paid product, with a discount of course. This worked for a warrior member recently and his sales were sky rocketing. So thats an option.

Failing all that you could take the fastest route and simply find another product, produce another website around it and generate another $100-$200 per month. To get your $1000pm all you need really is 5-10 of these low converting sites and your set.

Of course I would be tempted to try and maximise income first.

But like I said it's easier said than done. I'm a 'newbie' so what do I know

  • Hi Marshie. I assume your niches are the niches of the pages linked by your sig links? If so: I assume your exact target keywords receive a good amount of monthly searches? If so: I assume those top Google SE rankings for your content pages funnel a substantial amount of daily/weekly/monthly traffic to your top rankking content pages? If so:

The benefits offered by your content pages may be the problem. Your content pages should provide enticing previews to the benefits offered by your affiliate products. The benefits offered by your content pages should provide info, tips, advice, strategies and techniques that can further help your target viewers maximize the benefits they can gain from your affiliate products. The benefits offered by the product may be the problem. The price of the product, considering the value it can offer your target viewers, may be the problem. The sales page of the product developer may be the problem. The order processing, payment processing, product delivery, product warranties and guarantees, rewards/incentives/freebies and moneyback guarantees of your affiliate products may be the problem...

You mentioned you're earning substantial affiliate commissionss from the sales you make, though not enough for you to achieve your targets. What are your conversion percentages?

I wondered whether it was just not really a good product and whether an affiliate review site is a bit "hit and miss" as to whether it is something that will make money or not?

I get around 700 unique visitors per month to the site which results in roughly around 60-70 people actually going to the sales page and I usually get around 2 sales in the month (the product makes around $100 commission).

Some people might think that's great but I was hoping for better returns as I have heard of people on the Warrior forum saying they have sites making around $1000 per month and of course it is worth it to make more sites when that is the case. Hope I'm not sounding too greedy here but by the time you pay for SEO software and many hours of your time and some expired domains with pagerank to boost the rankings then I have barely broken even on this one?

Congrats Marshie. You have done it once. Now do it again with other products.

    Why?

You'll find out why when you hit a highly converting product (very high sales % per 100 visitors). It'll shock you.

I tried to build a list and send a 10 day email campaign to the subscribers that opted in but I removed it as I found that I didn't make any sales with the email campaign. At least 2 or 3 sales a month is better than none.
Realize that email marketing is somewhat like copywriting. It's an entire art by itself. Personally, I find it a lil tough too.

I am pretty disappointed and I am wondering what methods other warriors are using to make decent money from a site that can get a top Google ranking?
Create more sites like those 3. You'll stumble across winner products that can easily give you $500 - $1000 a month. Trust me on this one because I've experienced it myself.

I am not really interested in Adsense as I have heard that it is difficult to stop click fraud and having your Adsense account shut down.
Yes. Sad but true. I got started in AdSense myself. Boy, it was a tough and slow journey. Here's my take on AdSense.
Write hundreds of articles for content and backlink your AdSense religously if you wanna see some serious income. I just happen to find affiliate marketing to be a faster platform to earn more money in a shorter time. From experience.

I see some of the experienced warriors on here mentioning that they are making a couple of thousand per month from a site and I am wondering generally what methods are reliable to do this????
It's either more pages (or high search count keyword per page) or more sites that are ranked highly. That is, if you're talking about SEO alone. Simple.

    Hope this helps buddy.

    Thanks Calfred

I have been feeling like I must be doing something wrong and wondering whether I just need to keep making sites and concentrate on the ones that prove themselves to be "winners"

So how have people found information products such as Clickbank versus physical products such as Amazon?

I've heard the commissions are small and it can take quite a lot to make a substantial income from Amazon?

How have others found this comparison?
