Weird Blog 404 error ...

Hi

Wonder if anyone can help me?

I have setup 3 aweber forms on the same aweber list

Each form goes to a different thanks page on my blog but each of these pages is a duplicate (the reason for this is so each page has a unique url so it can be tracked in Google Analytics as a unique goal)

The blog sits in a sub directory of the main domain

When i fill any of the forms in they all give a 404 page not found error although they are going to the correct url of each page!!

I have tested the url in the aweber preview option in the settings area of each form and it finds the page everytime

Can anyone tell me why this is happening and how to solve it?

Thanks in advance...

Grant

Hi WillR, thanks. First have a look at the post above this one and let me know what you think...

I have tested this some more and now any page that sits on a blog gives me a 404 error

This could be because the string that aweber puts after the permalink when it does the redirect to that page

Can't see how this is a problem though because there must be millions of people with thanks pages on blogs!

It may mean from research I'm doing that the .htaccess file for the blog I'm redirecting to may need some extra code added to it to deal with this??

Not sure what the hell to do about that though!!!

    Any thoughts...??

I don't think the string should be causing a problem. So if you go to the thank you page url by yourself, the page displays correctly? However when aweber sends subscribers to that same page it does not display properly?

What does the url look like that aweber sends them to? You could copy and paste it here and just change your url to mywebsite.com or something if you like to keep your site private.

      Hi WillR

Yes the page displays correctly every time when I either preview it from Aweber form app or when i go there direct. But when I fill in any of the forms i've created i get a 404 error every time!

      The url is

      http://www.websitename.co.uk/pages/a...29&submit.y=42

The thing is I've tested seeing if a page that sits on another blog not on my domain works and i still get a 404 error!

That's why i think its something to do with adding a rule to the htaccess file to handle the aweber url that is created

What happens if you make the thank you page just a regular html page NOT a wordpress blog? So if you sent people to say Google.com or something similar. Does that work fine?

Also, do you need all those Aweber parameters passed on to the thank you page? Do you use any of them on the thank you page? If not, then deselect the box in Aweber that sends them to the thank you page.

I just had a look in my Aweber account. As I said, untick the box in the 'Success Page' section that says "Pass subscriber info for personalizing this page".

You will see in Aweber it actually says next to that box "(Not recommended for WordPress users)". There is your problem. I've never tried to use the Aweber personalization strings with a blog page before so had no idea it doesn't work. Clearly, according to Aweber, it doesn't.
