Clickbank or Amazon or other? Which is the most profitable?

I am wondering whether it is easier/better to make money from being a Clickbank affiliate or being an Amazon affiliate and sticking with physical products?

I plan to get my traffic through ranking in Google's top 3 for the name of a product as the keyword via SEO.

I know there are many warriors who make money from both or who have tried both so I would love to hear from people who can let me know from their real world experience.... thanks

Clickbank you get a higher percentage on sales. Amazon is a joke in my opinion. Some guy was bragging on here how he made his first $1000 and that was commission on over $20,000 in sales. If you put that same effort with Click Bank you'll be rich

Depends on your niche. You make more money with Clickbank if your niche is related to digital products.

side by side, amazon converts 100 times better than clickbank, thus rendering its low commission structure problem void. everything is relative.

Each one has pros and cons, clickbank has higher commission per sale, but amazon has a lot of products so you can make sales on things you are not promoting directly, but the people go there and they are in the "buying" mode and you get the sale

I have no experience with making sales with Amazon - not even any clicks. Then again , not much effort either.

Amazon installs a cookie on the user's machine which lasts for 24 hours. If ANY product is bought within 24 hours the affiliate will receive a 4% commission (or whatever their rate is set at).

ClickBank has a lot of junky products unfortunately and I hope that changes. I've *heard* that this is already starting to change.

Commission Junction is a network I have no success with. There again, not much effort was put into it.

PayDotCom is one that I'm new to.

It is all depend on your planning and skill. First of i would like to say that choose only niche products from clickbank and Amazon. and do some proper marketing on that.

It's not so much that one is 'more profitable' than the other...it depends on what product you choose, your ability to market that product, and your customer base.

Clickbank usually gives you a higher percentage on individual sales, but that's ignoring all other factors.

So think of Clickbank or Amazon affiliate programs as just market research to figure out the type of product that people want the most, so you know, basically, what kind of product you need to make, how to price it, what your ad copy needs to say, etc.
I'm not really sure you can make your own version of "Weber Stephen Products Co 386002 Baby Q Portable Grill" if it happens to convert well

LOL. Good point. There is a difference between info products and physical products.

There's a lot of crap on Clickbank and it's getting worse. Look at all of the "Easy Button" software products that are proliferating on there, promising to make you rich if you put their script on your website -- and it really does nothing at all. Or worse, gets you slapped by Big G. They're going to face a world of hurt from all directions if they keep that up. It's fraud, plain and simple.

How many Clickbank affiliates actually purchase and read the products they promote? Very few, I'll bet.

Some people slam Amazon because of their 4-10% commission rate. What they fail to realize is that it's a lot easier to convert with Amazon. Almost everyone online has an account at Amazon and is comfortable buying from them. My Amazon sites are converting at an average of over 15% while most Clickbank affiliates are happy with 2%.

Plus, it's a lot more fun and interesting to promote physical products you think are cool and might even have used. Compare that with pimping a Clickbank product you never even read.

It depends on how you promote them. If I used the same strategies to promote Clickbank products as a I do for Amazon, then it's likely Amazon's conversion rate WOULD be much higher.

However Clickbank products convert really well if you promote to a list of subscribers (if your subscribers like and trust you). My highest Clickbank conversion rate at the moment is just over 12%. If I only had Clickbank product review sites then I'd probably be looking at a conversion rate of about 2-5%. In which case Amazon would win hands down.

To the op: I don't think either are 'easier or better' - they both require a slightly different approach. Why not just do some of both and see which suits you best?

That is if you know everything about the product and know you are going to get it via Amazon.

Most people type the product model into Google and compare prices or look for reviews. That is where you as an affiliate come in.

I would say clickbank if you choose the right product to promote. But be sure to use a affiliate link cloaker so people dont steal your affiliate commissions because these days people are so used to clickbank , they will generate their own hop links and buy from them or use one of their friends . So choose a good clickbank product with link cloaker software and try to promote .

Something that many people seem to neglect is that physical products have way lower margins on them. Amazon doesn't pay you very badly if you take into consideration the fact that they probabaly have a 15-20% cut on the product price.
