classifieds php script?

Anyone here have a classifieds website? I am looking for a good classified script...one that does everything, but is also easy to use on the front end and back end. I have done quite a bit of research, but was wondering if anyone here had any suggestions...

Thanks,
Adam

Do you want the script to be integrated with anything, such as a forum or blog? Or do you want the script to be a stand alone?

I have a classifieds on my forum, but its fully integrated with the forum software. So its not a stand alone product.

Take a look at http://www.webcosmo.com If you like the looks of that script, contact the owner through their forums - http://www.webcosmoforums.com/ to find out what kind of program he used.

The best is geoclassifieds but it is expensive. Has a lot of bells and whistles you may not need. I think they are up to version 4. I am still using version 2 and it does more that I need.

Kev, thanks, but I am looking for a stand alone script.

        Micheal, (hey neighbor)...
GeoClassifieds is what I am leaning towards, they seem to offer the most, but then fall short in other areas...I have been playing around with their demo version online and I am disappointed that you can't write the description for your classified ad in html...my description came out as one line..I also wish their was a preview button...I guess not that big of a deal, but for the money...

Also, how people pay is little confusing since in their demo all the features are free. Do people have to add money to their own account and then purchase ads or can they buy through paypal directly per ad without adding money to their account?

In the end, I like the look, I like all the features...particularly all the different advertisement upgrades you can charge for, but it seems a little "clunky" for the user...

Do you have link to the site where you use geoclassifieds?

        I have also looked into
        68classifieds
        phpclassifieds
        abscripts
        phpmydirectory

All seem to offer some of what I want, but then lack in other areas...

The owner of the website I linked to above, he recommended the 68classifieds script. I think that is what he is using.

            Hi Adam,

I purchased Geodesic's Geoclassifieds Enterprise for use on a new site of mine about 5 months ago. Though the site still isn't officially up & running yet (thanks to the people doing the video addon module taking their sweet time :rolleyes I'm basically very happy with the way the script runs. I definitely think it's the best ready-made option available.

I'm going to have to go to Rent-A-Coder & get a few mods done to the site in the next few weeks before I officially launch it, but when compared to the other software/scripts available it's going to be a lot less work to get this one running the way I want.

The biggest downfall I feel with all of Geodesic's classified ad software is you don't have the option of creating an automatic recurring membership (monthly, yearly etc.). There is a small hack you can use (available on their forum) to create a recurring billing option through PayPal but if people cancel their membership you have to manually downgrade their account. The same goes if people want to upgrade their account, there's no way for them to do it through their control panel/home page area - they have to contact you to request an upgrade.

However if you don't want to run the site membership style, it's great . I would definitely recommend it.

I'll PM you the site that I have it running on.

            Cheers

            Rachel

thanks...the more I look into it, the more I like 68classifieds...I would have to purchase a bunch of addons to get it to do everything I want, but it seems a little more user friendly from the point of view of the ad poster
