Today one of my friends site was banned and he thinks that the reason might be that his site was not html validated..so my question is that true cause when I checked his site through w3 school html validator I got 3 warnings and 23 errors...and here is the most funny thing...I went and checked Huffingtonpost.com washingtonpost.com and Nytimes.com and all the site shows 450 to 500 error...if html validation is important then why this sites are ranking in the search engine...you can check it here and see: The W3C Markup Validation Service

Trust me, your friends site was not banned because of html validation. He has obviously been doing something else wrong. Aggressive link building, publishing copyright content, or something else. A lot of the webpages out there still do not conform to the HMTL standards. It's not a reason for Google to ban a page.

I can see them banning the site because of invalid html. If the html is not valid, the site may be to for Google to crawl but I can't imagine they would ban it.
