Has anyone thought of trying to monetise Kate & William's Royal wedding, I'd suspect its quite a trend at the mo tho I must admit I haven't looked (Not interested enough cos I'm sick of hearing about it)

This guy has rather cleverly decided to monetise it on Fiverr

Kate Middleton's family website has some stuff Party Pieces: Best of British Essential Party Kit - although they're not making as big a deal out of it as you might expect.

It certainly is - I cannot escape all the headlines about the royal family and/or Kate on the trashy tabloids every time I'm at the supermarket checkout counters or the magazine stands. All the popular celebrity news/gossip shows are also devoting an inordinate amount of attention and time to the wedding developments...there's no running away from this over here!

          Kim,

It's a good niche for people with poor writing skills - very little competition.

Have you seen the puerile pap 'authority' sites like the BBC are churning out?

Stop-press!!! Kate's ring is too big!

Shock! Horror! Kate's great great great great grandfather was a coal miner!

It seems incredible, but probably most of the Ezine Article writers are too good to write for the BBC.

Not you obviously Ben, so probably best if you go and comment in threads that you have any interest in.

By the way, this is a marketing forum and the question was about monetising the wedding.

Not about whether you cared about it.

To everyone else, I've heard as the entire country has the day off and will be having a good couple of beers and lots of parties, it's been estimated that the amount of money it'll generate, will exceed the amount if England hosted the football world cup and won it. That's good for a country that's a few trillion in debt.

I'm not bothered by the wedding personally, I fall asleep at friends weddings. I do, however care about the fact that my local and all the other pubs where I live, open at 10am and I have a nice day off to have a beer, or ten.

For anyone over here that's all doom and gloom about it, just do some work instead, it's just another day.

Yes hot topic! I am from the UK but live in Holland and its even big here. I will check back on this thread as would be interested to know how people would go about monetizing it.

    Article marketing to resources,
    You tube,
    adsense blocks I guess

Cant think you would make a huge profit on it though. Interesting report about the fiverr gig!

I don't really know anyone taking a major interest in the royal wedding. The royals used to be popular back in Charles and Diana's day, but not so much anymore it seems.

Actually I was reading on Yahoo a few weeks ago that anti royal wedding merchandise is doing quite well!

aaaaaaargh - while I'm glad to see a nice young couple getting married, somehow the glamor and interest has died down in comparison with the young Lady Di getting married to Prince Charles. The UK media is trying to bolster income by whipping up stories and speculation about Kate Middleton's family and is ending up looking 110% tacky .... I'd include the BBC in that as well; they're encouraging long-lost relatives to put themselves into the spotlight and giving them their 15 minutes of fame. Who cares.

I have to say I got a much greater thrill to realise that my next door neighbor got patted on the head by John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara when they were in Ireland filming many years ago - and, even at that, I only managed to raise an eyebrow

Decisions decisions ... to go up to Central London and sleep out the night before with friends and enjoy the the excitement of the day and the camaraderie of all those around, or to join in our local street party?

Like it or loathe it the wedding is huge news worldwide. Get some good pictures and put up a wp site and cash in. If you type royal wedding + affiliate into your google browser you'll find affiliate programs with everything from hotels, chocolate, rings, clothes etc so there's plenty to monotize your site with.

I find it interesting that other countries show a greater interest in the royals than my own Country. I am not at all interested but I know many Americans are. In Fiji and I believe Australia they have the Queens birthday as a public bank holiday whilst we do not .

Well some of the public services do get to take it off, although I do not see why when it is not a public holiday!

What we are witnessing here is an abuse of means of communication: even before an event takes place we get tired of it. Today it is about a marriage and tomorrow it will be about something else.

We know all about it, reporters speculates endlessly the minute they see any expression rather than a radiant smile on somebodys face (question: do you always walk wearing a radiant smile?)or speculates with any other excuse, they make all different projections of what they assume will happen in the couple life in the next ten years, then we get printed images of the event just everywhere, and of course all the facebooking and twitting of the case.

In fact this will just be a splendid wedding of a beautiful young couple, which would gladly get on with it, without the above mentioned.

Confession: A few months back, I did a domain search just out of curiosity and found that PrinceWilliamAndKateMiddleton.com & .net were available.

I wasn't sure what to do with them, so I slept on it.

But when I went back to register them the next day.....

I know most peopel are sick of hearing about the royal wedding (me too) but I also get sick hearing about weight loss, six pack abs, how to get your ex back etc etc. It doesn't stop a lot of people making a lot of money off it though.

I confess when I heard about the engagement I bought three domains "kate and william wedding" The .com was not available but I picked up the.org./.net/.info.

All three of these are ranking on page 1 for the keyword and although the Adsense per click is pretty low, the rediculously high traffic has made them very profitable. I sort of regret not putting more thought into them at the beginning as far as monetization goes but it was bit of an experiment.

I had 1200 uniques yesterday and the traffic graph is almost straight up. Can't imagine what the traffic will be by 29th. I'm guessing pretty quiet soon after that though!

I will definitely be doing more like that in the future.

I'm happy to have Royal dosh in my pocket!

I'm having a royal wedding party!!!

And may well order of the Middletons party site, as that's a better price than on ebay! (Yes that is their site)

I noticed when checking bestsellers on Amazon in the kitchen/home section, that 4 out of the top 5 items where Royal Wedding related. So wrote it up and put it on my site

      Kitchen Accessories Heaven

If it gets a couple of clicks i'm happy.

    Hi WF,

I got the domain name with just a wordpress set up site -

    ukroyalweddingcoin@com

Was thinking of using it to drive traffic to my ebay where I was selling the William and Kate wedding coins. Even with any work done on the site, the sales were coming good until Ebay closed my account for "safety reasons" though I still maintain my 100% feedback with no problem with anyone or anything.

Kind of down now and thinking of selling off the domain.

Or Maybe get over it and find ways to still put the site in use to make money.
Please encourage and proffer what to do.

I subscribe to HARO, particularly for the gift donation requests. So last month I designed and shipped some bookmarks to an elementary school that was having a Royal Wedding fundraising auction where moms could bid on a Royal Wedding viewing package.

The school was going to actually lease a limo for 15 winners, full "royal" treatment, to virtually go to the wedding.

I just went out online and looked for some photos to design some free bookmarks for their event (of course, my company information was on the back). The coordinator emailed back and said they were absolutely perfect. Although I'm not interested one bit in whole thing, it did give me an opportunity to market my business.

Kim I cant believe no one as of yet has purchased the gig on Fiverr! It is very surprising, I did some work for a client who was selling custom mugs but instead of William and Kate on it, it was Harry and Kate, just for the laugh I guess, a sort of... Tongue in cheek look at the situation.

Also other mugs available where ones which instead of them looking really nice and smart they looked drunk and bewildered. Kate was diving into a London Cab and William looked like he'd had a bit too much cherry.

The example of my client it was great as it was a more viral thing locally, he doesn't sell them online (As of yet) I also think time is running out for him, he only sells them by mail order or in a few local shops in London, he didn't want to sell online for the fear he would get copyright issues with the photographers who took the photos also he didn't want to wind up on BBC news 'A man from London has been charged for selling in-decent images of prince harry and kate middleton' he had nightmares of being public enemy number 1 and an international hate figure

I told him to stop being stupid and start milking the cash cow
