Warriors,

Ok, I've spent the last year learning and now it's time to start taking massive action. I have 3 months to devote full time to IM and generally take over the world!

So, if you were just starting out, how would you spend $1000 to really kick start your business.

I'm thinking about essential tools, list building, membership subscriptions, and outsourcing time consuming tasks (articles, social bookmarking etc).

Thanks for your help.

Nick

sure way to lose money if not done right.

really, rather spend the $1000 to get some REAL traffic going, there are people eager to do jobs like article writing, lens building and social bookmarking....way better ROI in the long run... IMHO

Or... a sure way to make LOADS of money if done right.

How do you mean it's not real? Buying traffic is as real as it gets.

In the long run he will certainly be making more money by learning how to buy traffic properly.

Good answer...I was just writing a similar post...but hey, where's the babe gone, Steve?

      Nick,

Steve's idea is a great idea, you could spend $1000 on a course telling you how to do it or you could buy something that is already doing it and making money. Therefore you could learn by doing and profit at the same time!

Sitepoint is a good start, and you don't have to spend $1,000 on an established site, there are some to be had in the $100's. There are other places as well (search for the WF for "site flipping") but since I don't flip sites, I don't know them as well as others might.

To find out if the site is worth getting, get webstats from the seller and use Google to search for the site and find out about backlinks, ranking for keywords, etc.

I'll definately look at this one, thanks

I know a bit about PPC but I don't think it's a long term business model unless it's for building a list?

I agree with that. I think a cheap site on sitepoint would be a great option. You could learn to grow it while (hopefully) it is bringing a couple hundred a month

Unless he knows what he's doing, $1000 in PPC can be gone fast. If you gave me $1000 today to spend on adwords, I'd lose it all just learning how to work the system. (But maybe that's just me )

I love the idea of buying an established site. Can't argue with a proven model that already makes money. Just make sure you can handle the maintenance of it to ensure it keeps bringing in money. With prices usually only 6-12x the monthly earnings of a site, it's not a bad choice at all.

I won't make any specific suggestions because it depends a lot on your current skills and knowledge, but...

I'd recommend the obvious choices of adding website hosting, autoresponders, and possibly an ad tracking service to your monthly budget. The costs seem small, but they add up and will likely be vital for your business.

It can be easy to blow it all right away if you don't pay attention. As long as you set a really low daily budget to begin with and split test like mad, you can start upping your budget once you have found which keywords convert. Its really quite easy.

    Nick,

    Wrong Question...

How about this one... If there was a gun pointed at your head and the
person holding the gun said they'd return in a week and shoot off your
right leg if you couldn't make a dollar online...

What would you do, where would you go and who would you trust to steer you
in the right direction of working your fingers to the bone, trying to figure
out how to make your first $1 online...

As you can see, this may or may not require anywhere near the $1,000
    you have to invest...

Set a goal and then work like mad... If you've never made a dime online
before, set your goal to be just that... but you've got 7 days... or else.

This works real well for me and I'm sure others have similar experiences
    they would tell if prompted.

    Cheers,

    Rob

Good answer Rob but I've already made more than a dollar online. And much to my girlfriends concern, I do work like there's a gun at my head.

Maybe I should have asked the question - 'If you had to start all over again with a $1000, what would you spend it on?'

        That's so easy...

        LEARNING PPC AND/OR BUYING TRAFFIC.

I spent a year submitting articles, blogging, SEO etc. because i was afraid to buy traffic. It paid my bills but it was too slow and too much work. So i decided to try PPC. My first attempt was with facebook ads about a year ago and i haven't touched articles, my blogs or done any SEO ever since. Paying for traffic IS the best way to make money online. It's just that it's so much harder so a lot of people get demotivated because they lose 100 bucks when they start out... but that's just part of the learning curve.

So if i were to start all over again i would throw that 1k on learning ppc/media buy. It's totally worth it.

Use $900 to pay your rent.

Use $50 to get some hosting and buy some domain names.

Use $50 to buy a course on affiliate marketing that gives you step by step directions.

Do not do PPC, you may loose more than your $1K. Do free article marketing and make some money that you will use to build on.

When I first started I threw lots of thousands of dollars buying established sites, courses from gurus and in the end I had to return to basics. Learning step by step how to market and that takes good coaching or you just working it out step by step.

Patience is the key here. If you go for the fast cash, you will find lots of ways to loose it. If you are patient and work step by step everyday, you will make it.

I didn't think I could write articles, now I write at least 10 a day and I'm loving the process. Once you have all your keywords and have a system, the writing is easy.

I also find its easier to outsource something if I know how to do it myself. Then I can give direction of how it's to be done.

    Nick,
I noticed many have posted about PPC and such but have not really answered your question. So let me take the time to asnwer your question and explain a few things and maybe just help a few newbies reading this all in one shot...

We have a $1,000 budget but I will base this on far less because not everybody has $1,000 to plunk down.

    - First you want to join a membership site that will help you with the following:

    1. Create Articles and Create PDF files
    2. Submission to Article Directories
    3. Has a DripFeed to Post to your blog
    4. Offers support to help you succeed

Yes, I do have a membership site that offers exactly this and much more but to stay away from the self promotion thing I will not mention it here. You can always PM me..

    - Next Go to Web Hosting, Reseller Hosting, and Dedicated Website Hosting w/ cPanel - HostGator and get hosting (reseller hosting is $24.95 a month)

    - Using your hostgator account you can setup blogs, first create one blog to begin with using wordpress (I would suggest getting it secured)

    - Go to google and create an adwords account and use their keyword research tool to find popular keywords. You want to do this because you want to base your blog on those popular keywords.

    - Now you have your keywords, if you can not write then get a decent writer on an affordable price to write some articles (let's say 12) based on and around the keywords you have chosen to use.

    - Find or locate affiliate products that are also based on these keywords because you will want to ad these products to your blog. Keep related products do not use 5 different products. All should be based on your keywords because your entire blog is based on those keywords and the people you want to drive to that blog will also be interested in products on those keywords.

    - Now go back to the membership site in step 1 and start creating articles and pdf's using those articles that was written (If you do not follow this step or understand this step then you would need to be a member of the membership site for me to fully explain it) for you. You will also want to create some articles to add to the dripfeed so your blog will have content posted on auto pilot.

    - Using the same membership site in step 1 you will want to use the submission service to submit articles to article directories.

    - There are several WSO's going on right now that offer bookmarking to 100+ social bookmark sites for like $10.. You could purchase 3 or 4 and have those social bookmarks sent to your articles that you submitted to the article directories. Purchase an additional 1 to bookmark your blog.

    - Next on your list you will want to ping your blog (wordpress does have seo and sitemap plugins that can be used also) There are many places that can ping your blog. You can find one here: PingMyBlog.com

    - Once you start getting some traffic in then you will want to create some more articles, submit articles, and etc ... Everyday you want to spend "X" amount of hours doing this.

This is a short simple plan and there is more involved than this but this would help you get started and going by the plan above you have only spent about $150 (depends upon how much you pay for articles or write them yourself).. If you write the articles the about plan is about $100 to get you on your way.

Research products that you can buy resell rights to.

Give it a time and buy only a very good product in

some evergreen niche such as 'make money online' or

'weight loss'. For $500 - $800 you can buy resell rights to

        a killer product.

Then sell that product through Clickbank. Invest $200 in

creating additional promo materials for your affiliates.

Within a couple of months you can make a few hundreds

per month in pure profit on a complete autopilot.

Here's a "must have" tool. Winautomation.com It will automate your tedious tasks such as keyword research and the best part is that they will make the scripts for you.

This looks like a very cool tool Carmene. Can you expand on it's use for keyword research?

              PM me if you want.

                Nick,

                PM sent.

But for the rest who are curious, this tool will automate your online and offline repetitive computer tasks. More details are in the war room. This is where I found out about it. Search for "Greece".

            Hi,

First off - you've got time - so try and pick a topic you know about and can get excited about, even if you buy PLR stuff to give you the basis of a product at least your own knowledge and enthusiasm will flow into the finished product.

Go to justdropped.com and search for a good domain relevant to the topic (if you haven't got one) - there are some great ones to be picked up daily.

Before you put anything online - spend $129 on DLGuard - it will totally automate you sales process, product delivery and mailing lists.

It's a gift to set up and it will also lock your stuff up from passing thieves, I believe Sam's in the process of adding affiliate management to the script - so all round that may be the best $129 you spend on the 'back end processes'.

PS - If you're going to buy PLR - do a few searches for the product title as it's supplied first - this will turn up how many 'lazy' marketers there are selling the same stuff who haven't bothered to repackage it.

            Good luck whatever you do.

    Nick,

Got to love the opposite sex, they either think you're working too hard or
think you're not bringing in enough money for all you do...
    ...Keeps us on our toes.

One last idea on a better question...

I (Nick) am averaging low 3 figures, high 3 figures or whatever, doing x,y,z
online (ppc, article marketing or whatever), does anyone know who can
help me double my income in the next 60 days in the same area...

    Cheers,

    Rob
P.S. There must be a warrior or a warrior product that could help you
scale up for less than $100.

      Rob,

That might be a better question but I imagine the answer would be, do what you're doing but do it twice!

What I need is where to spend the money to do it twice, ten, a hundred times quicker.

      Cheers

You do not need that much to get started online. About $100 sourcing for articles. Then submit to 4 or five directories. Then Save $900

do you have any hobbies? collecting stamps, playing soccer, enjoying gardening, love pets,...? find something you really like (you do not have to know it really well). go to auction site, such as sitepoint, buy one in that niche, or use open source build one, then drive traffic to it. you do not have to sale something at the beginning. when the site grows, $ will come.

    good luck

I would get into the site flipping business. It is a virtual gold mine right now and with a little know how you could buy a site for $1000 and flip it for $10,000.

By the way, if you aren't already a War Room member, spend the first $37 of that $1,000 on a War Room membership, then spend a few days going through it. In there you'll find THOUSANDS of dollars of IM products for FREE.

    I'm not kidding.

Steve, you're right, I've been a member of the war room since it opened and it's the best money i've spent in IM.

I'm not sure if it's how I worded my question or people not reading it correctly but I'm not getting answers I was hoping for, so....

      The $1000 is money I have set aside to start a real business. Paying the rent is not an issue, buying training is not required. I have business models (such as the MSN Loophole) I want to impliment and I want to use this money to pay for tools and services that will help reduce time so I can spend more time researching hungry markets. FOR EXAMPLE;

Are things like LinkVana and caffeinated content a good investment?
Which tasks should I outsource - articles, bookmarking?

I'm hoping someone will suggest something I hadn't thought of or didn't know about.

      Thanks again
      Nick

I'm thinking about essential tools, list building, membership subscriptions, and outsourcing time consuming tasks (articles, social bookmarking etc).

    Thanks for your help.

I don't know what your current knowledge and skills are but here is what I would do
    • Research and decide what model I want to use - FREE
    • Create a detailed plan for that model - FREE
    • Look at each task in that plan and determine if its a skill I have or one I have to out source
    • If there are more than 50% of the items on that list that I don't have the knowledge or skill to do - hire a coach or mentor or join a reliable "how to" membership site to put me on the right track to get those tasks done cost effectively.
Your lack of knowledge or skill in certain areas is whats going to dictate what you spend your money on. Resist the urge to spend on items/services you don't need at the moment. Let your plan dictate when you spend.
For example there is no point having a bunch of articles written if your niche won't turn a profit.

    Hope that helps
