Tracking Social Media ROI
A ClickZ article caught my eye this morning, Forget Social Media ROI
So - I start reading and the argument seems to be, it is simply too hard to track social media from a testing point of view, so don't do it.
Then they go on to give 5 metrics to take into account when you do try and track social media activity - so which is it?
Articles like this drive me NUTS...if you are going to be an authority on a topic, then have a firm opnion and don't waffle...
In my own business, social media IS large testable...anytime I place a call to action into a social media post, I use an ad-tracking URL that ties it in with my autoresponder, website tracking and overall sales tracking.
Sure, there is an element of social networking that may go beyond what is testable, but much of it can be tracked...doubt many people are doing it though.
