I am involved with one MLM company, but mainly because I use their product to promote any current business im working on, plus tools they provide save me buying other services. One of them is a video conferencing tool which saves me paying $99 a month for goto webinar.

I think it does help indeed if you attract leads online. It may not help much if you do most of the work offline but if you can establish yourself online too then it will boost your results.

As with all marketing and recruiting for MLM, you need to remember to keep it simple and duplicatable. Your downline is your most powerful marketing machine if you invest the time and tools to train them effectively.

What tools have you found to be top notch and what would have made them better if they were not?

With not too much effort, I posted an ad on Craigslist not really expecting anything from it. My inbox didn't overflow with replies but I got a few responses. These were from existing network marketers who had thousands of contacts but the products that they were currently selling (health drinks) were decreasing in demand. Just a few distributors of this caliber and the whole downline has exploded. It's wild.

I have also had quite a bit of luck with paid ads on job sites under the "Work From Home" category.

I do a little MLM, however I haven't learned anything yet that specificly help out mlm recruiting. I pretty much see success coming from the traffic and conversions no matter what kind of opportunity is involved. (besides what myob mentioned)

I would say the biggest thing, I don't know if you want to call it IM or not, is being able to build a website. I was in an MLM last year and had one of the first websites promoting it. I got off to a great start, but the company started having problems and I got tired of dealing with them.

Being able to drive traffic to the website was helped by my IM skills. Just my limited Adwords knowledge is probably what helped me the most and allowed me to sponsor people all across the county, including Hawaii.

Now I'm trying to use the skills to promote the first link in my signature.
