Submit to EZA or blog first?

I have these articles I just wrote for my first AM site. I want to get this content up ASAP, but I also want to submit to EZA. Can I go ahead and post these to my site and to EZA? I know EZA will take a while to approve them.
I just dont want to wait.

Thanks

I think that if you EZA articles bring people to your blog, your blog article should have that little something extra in it to reward them for following the links there.

Right, but the EZA articles will direct to my landing page, not my blog.

True, but they will get there as you build your list, yes? But your point is well taken.

I suggest the blog first, then EzineArticles. Sometimes it's taken up to 4 or 5 days to get my articles approved, and I don't think you want to wait that long to get content up on your blog.

Great question and one of the things I've always been confused about. Let me see if I can re-state the original intention and add another related question to this:

Are we talking about writing articles, then immediately posting them to our blog, and ALSO submitting the exact same articles to EZA, and in the bio box for the EZA version, we're pointing the reader to a.) our blog? or b.) our landing page?

See why someone may become confused?
      Let's say I just wrote 5 articles.
      1. Post to blog or EZA first?
      2. Rewrite them or not?
      3. EZA bio box directs them to blog or sales page?

        Here's my strategy:

        1. Write a Keyword Rich Article
        2. Post a summary of the article on my blog (usually I re-write a little bit of the article so it's not an exact duplicate).
        3. Submit the article to EZA - redirecting a keyword rich link in the bio box to my blog page.

So my blog URL would be something like myblog.com/my-keyword-post and then the article at EZA would point to the same url.

You may say...what about the landing page? Well, when they click through to the blog post that post will lead them to my main product or service.

        Press on,
        Jeff

          Thank you, Jeff -

That clears things up a bit.

Logic would have it that you don't want the EZA and the blog post to be the same thing. I suppose too, you could look at it as:

The ezine article gives a taste of what is to be found at the source (your blog,) where you get to expound on that article and much, much more; including a lead-in to go check out the sales page.

          I'm getting it.

          Thanks again.

        • Here's my two cents for what it's worth as someone who does both...

All the advice was good, but I think JL Melvin has the best suggestion and here's why:

Both article marketing and blogging are done mostly to get traffic going to where ever you want it to end up (in this case your landing page). So, ideally you want both the articles AND the blog to generate as much traffic as possible.

But - you want (and need) to limit duplicate content (which is a whole new debate by itself). And you're correct by saying that EZA will take a week or so to approve your article (AT LEAST a week).

          So:

          1. Create your article using standard Best Practices.

          2. Submit it to EZA AND the other sites (don't forget there's more than EZA). Here's some great software that will automate the process: http://www.thearticlecorner.com. Remember, the more sites you submit the article to the better.

          3. Rewrite your article slightly and add a personal or humerous story. Post it to your blog. Remember - you're blog should be entertaining and engaging. Let your audience know you'll be blogging about the topic again shortly and give them a reason to want to look forward to reading it when it's posted. Put the landing page link on the blog if you want. Then ping the post so the SE's will pick it up faster. And the slight rewrite will avoid any dupe content issues if you're concerned about them.

After your article is approved, go back to your blog and post Part II on the topic, this time making it very brief (only one or two lines) and point to the article. Ping the post again to get attention by the search engine spiders.

It might seem like this is a long procedure, but it really only takes about 5 extra minutes of your time, and the results will be well worth the time spent.

          With this method you'll:

*Get your landing page in front of people faster
*Get extra content for your blog
*Expose more people to both your blog AND your articles (increasing your credibility and potential buyers)
          *Increase your SE rankings faster

Hope it helps and good luck!

I would agree with posting the articles on your blog first and submitting them to any of the articles directories AFTER the articles have been found by the search engines on your blog.

This usually does not take very long.

In theory, I also agree with posting on your blog first. However, I have had a fair bit of success using the following method (a slight deviation).

      1. Write the article using "base keyword/phrase," Green Widgets for example.
      2. Submit article to EZA using base keyword/phrase.
      3. While in EZA review, I rewrite the article in the form of a review (taking chunks of the article) using base keyword/phrase + review, Green Widgets Review and post on my blog. SE's have not indexed my site yet.
      4. Digg the review pointing to my site.

In doing this, I find that in many cases, my site will outrank EZA. The end result is in many cases, my base keyword is on 1st or 2nd page and the base keyword/phrase + review on the 1st or 2nd page. Or, two keyword/phrases (good in my niche) for the price of one.

I've done this about 3 or 4 articles with good results. One caveat - this is still in the "testing phase". I've done this for about 2-3 weeks so in that time, SE's have not "reshuffled" so there may be different results later, but thought I'd share.

It depends on what kind of traffic your are trying to get.

If it is a low competition niche and the article is written to target SEO rank then whether you post it on your blog or on EZA it will probably get a decent ranking in the search engines. Post it on your blog first and you may see it on the 1st page of the results fairly quickly as long as you ping it.

Once the EZA post is approved you may see it overtake your blog in the rankings. Either way you will get search engine traffic. You may want to consider changing your article up a bit, but truly in a low competitive niche duplicate content will not exclude it from top seach engine rankings especially if it is just a few duplications.

Now if you are writing in a highly competitive niche than post, post, post, and post so more. Oh yeah and blog, blog, blog and blog some more. If you are in a highly competitive more than likely search engine traffic is not going to work for you. In this case you should post in as many places and open up as many blogs as possible. You can use the same article to do so. The reason you can do this is because most of the traffic you will be receiving will be from the sources you are posting on. Internal searches, bookmarks, blog communities, etc. The more communities and sites your article is on the more chance someone will find it.

I hope this help you out.
