Feedback on a new website

Hello Warriors,

I'm new to word press and building websites, but I'm in the process of putting together a website for a service based business that I'm working on. It's still pretty bare, but it would be great to get some feedback or constructive criticism on what I have so far.

Thank you

  • 2 thumbs up from me. That's very nice so far! It's simple, not too busy, laid out well. I would never have guessed this is your first blog/site.

Very good as a first site!

My question would only be - how are you going to get traffic to your site? If SEO is part of it, I suggest to:

    - add more pages of original content;
    - optimize those pages for SEO (keyword in Title, description, H1, H2, H3, image ALT tags, interlink the pages using keywords)
    - get some backlinks.

    Good luck!

    Here's some suggestions:
    • Put an image or two on the homepage within the content. Right now you've just got a wall of text and it's a big turn off. Since you are selling PP designs, maybe have a picture of somebody giving a presentation with a big smile on their face?
    • Add a line of text or two on the contact page along the lines of "Thank you for contacting us! We'll reply to your inquiry within 24 hours" or something like that.
    • I would suggest changing the teal background, I find it very distracting from the rest of the site. Maybe make it lighter or something?
    • The menu color doesn't fit with the rest of the colors on your site. Make it the same color or a shade of the teal color. It's clashing with the design right now.
    • I would change the font you are using. It looks like your theme is using Helvetica, but I don't think it works for it, maybe try Verdana or Arial or something that's a little wider. The narrow/jagged font you have right now isn't very nice looking.

Okay, it has eye appeal. But it's lacking a compelling reason to call you. The flash stuff up top is boring, nonspecific. You start by saying, most PP presentations are "mind-numbingly boring." That may be so but with that statment you've alienated some people right off the bat. Better to say something like, I think many would agree that some of the stuff that passes for a PP presentation is... pretty bland or something not so potentially offensive to people who might be struggling amateurs at PP.

Your first bullet says something like "keep your audience engaged." Okay, good. But before you can keep them engaged you've got to first draw them in by GETTING THEIR ATTENTION. And that's what your page fails to do, grab them right up front and make 'em want to know more.

You've got a nice looking page, no doubt. Now tune it up. Make the flash stuff up top really compelling, as it stands now it's very generic. People needing profesionally done PP stuff are in business to MAKE MONEY. Show them how your service can do that and you'll need to install a few more phones. Good luck

Great job first timer! There is good advice above. A good looking site does not always mean a profitable one. Keep reading and learn as much as you can about internet marketing. There is some great advice right here in the forum.

      Keep up the good work!
