Have you tried Yahoo Answers for traffic generation

Hi Warriors,

Has anyone tried to use Yahoo Answers as a way to generate traffic?

I have read an article about an internet marketer that has generated a good amount of traffic by answering questions on Yahoo.

His method was to answer 5 to 10 questions each day and reference his site in one of the answers.

Has anybody tried something like this? Does it work?

I tried with no success, answered a lot of questions, hired one person to do this job for me, but nothing happened. You can do a lot of different things, but I suggest to use 80/20 rule. Do things that brings most results. I found yahoo answers not the best method. You can get traffic from hudreds of different things but if you have to put 80 energy to get 20 results I pass it.

I have heard of this too. However the method i heard of sounds a tad blackhat. This involved opening 2 separate accounts, posting a question then answering your own question with the other account and then putting in a "helpful link" to a site(your site) You then go back to the other account and rate that answer as the best answer so that other people believe that link in the answer to be the best possible solution to their problem, thus getting a lot of pre sold targeted traffic to your site.

You didnt hear that from me

      cheers

I have tried Yahoo Answers for driving traffic when I first started marketing. Many people say that it is a good source, however if they say that you can just reference your site in your answer, that will get many people on Yahoo Answers to mark your comment as spam.

Every single time I put a site as a helpful reference that was helpful to the person asking the question, other people who look at the answers would mark it as spam. So I just think it is one of the more tedious ways to get traffic. I think the many other traffic strategies are easier and get more from the time you put in.

Yahoo answers also ranks really well in the search engines. There's loads of advice about this floating around on the net. If you are going to post links to reference your answers, use a mixture of your own site(s) and other websites/blogs/hub pages etc. That way you won't keep getting flagged as spam. Also, avoid answering loads of questions in one go - this also looks spammy.

I have tried yahoo answers and have answered tons of questions. So far I have made only one sale from this method. My conclusion about yahoo answer is waste of time!

Like every method of internet marketing you wil get people who have success and people who fail.

Each of those groups will have their own opinion biased on what is usually one attempt.

How many things in life hav eyou done right the first time? Not many I guess.

Yahoo answers is a good source of targeted traffic. It is not likely to buyer traffic as it is from peopel looking for answers (information).

So you need to monetize your site appropriately. Clicbank offer and the liek will almost certainly be low conversions but Adsense and CPA ccould be very good.

Using Yahoo answers in thsi way is aginst te T&C's so you are probably starting off on te wrong foot. First issue is NOT getting banned, which is actually very easy (getting banned I mean) if you are not VERY careful in your answers.

If you do it right (hint) you need best answers, the you can get traffic for years from YA.

I doubt you'll earn a living from that alone though.

I have tried and also got some traffic in a way. But you need to be quite tricky to put your website URL coz if the same if repeated many times then Yahoo may ban you. Take Care.

yahoo answers is a good way of generating traffic to your site, avoid putting your links in all your answer but in every 10 - 20 answers you made just put your link in one. i have used it, and made some sales from it.

I have been doing it for awhile now. It does bring in some traffic, but it is a slow method in the niche I use it for. (diabetes) I leave my link in most answers, but only answer a handful of questions a day. Been flagged for spam once.

Something to do if you have thirty minutes to spare while watching tv in the evening.

Yahoo answers can provide quick traffic and often gets found in the SE's, further more often best answers get scraped by Auto blogs so can provide further traffic when their published on other peoples sites.

Just remember they are No Follow so won't help your SEO.

It is a good traffic method, but of course takes time, just like everything else. If you do it correctly not to get your account flagged, and answer 5-10 questions daily, you WILL get traffic.

I have a website that I started about 3 years ago. This website had answers linking to it posted daily for like 3 months, and it is still getting ~50 daily visitors from Yahoo Answers now, about 3 years later.

I've used YA with mediocre results. You can get some traffic from it and sometimes your answers rank in the serps, which is great if you are voted the top answer.

The problem with YA is that it is not very scalable. You have to put a fair bit of work in, then it drops down once you stop answering.

I only use it the odd time now, when I have a bit of extra time, or I have a bit of writers block.

Yahho answers DOES work to send traffic.

However you have to be very careful because if they have the slightest feeling that you are promoting something that people have to pay for they will delete your account.

Can take a while to build up the levels and be able to post links anyway, it used to work really well but now as I say it is difficult not to get banned even if you are providing good content.

Works amazing. I do it from time to time, answer around 50 questions in one day. What you need to remember is to make long, well written posts that actually answers a question.

I have tried yahoo answers but the niche I'm involved in isn't exactly suitable to it. Mostly, people just wanna know the price or have already purchased the product in my niche and come to Yahoo Answers for a little research. Its hard to find buyers there. I still believe though it can be good for creating a list but remember you cannot drive them to a squeeze page unless your bait is THE answer to their question.

Actually there's an easy bypass for that. Well sure don't post links WITHIN the message, that's obvious promotion. But there is a "Source:" bar where you can type in where you got the information for your answer. I enter my URLs there in every message and I am so far untouched!

Yes, Yahoo Answers have worked for me very well.To get success with it you have to make sure that you post the most suitable answer to the question asked by the user.

Yes we do it. We have a staff person that is in charge of looking for our KEYWORDS and then responds to the questions with GREAT Answers that normally get picked as the BEST Answer. It drives a flow of traffic to our websites and does convert becasue we only target the KEYWORDS that are key to success in our business.

We are lucky that our target market is so HUGE and it allows us to comment on many Yahoo Questions.

It does work... but requires TIME.

We break about even on the frontend sale but make profits from Monthly Subscriptions to our Websites and Hosting Services.

Yahoo Answers traffic definitely works, its just a long-term play. You can't answer 20 questions per day with a URL to your website in each one, you'll get banned. One or two per day maximum and you'll see trickle traffic over time that slowly builds on itself.

I used yahoo answers the same way months ago
and never recieved any real results.

To me i believe it could be a waste of time.

There many different traffic methods that are alot more
    reliable than using yahoo answers.

To me yahoo answers fits in the same class with traffic exchanges.

Its just a huge waste of time.

Without ever really intending to, I got to a higher level with them, (big deal) and did put some effort into to see what might happen. I'd have to say I was disappointed. The only conceivable way i can see it working would be very labor intensive, and I hate labor.
