Managing Projects? What do YOU use?

INTERNET MARKETING

What do you use to juggle and manage your projects, and freelancers? I have asked this in the past, and am always on the lookout for effective tools.

I have used BaseCamp, and have tested just about every other solution out there. I am curious to know what other warrior's may be using to help keep projects in order and on a set calendar?

Depending on the project I sometimes use a PM tool, or a simple system I have put in place which consists of formatted word documents that I update regularly and keep in a binder.

Seems like some of the PM tools out there make more work than they are worth, while others add to productivity.

All of this end 2008 with a bang, tie up loose ends, and 2009 goal talk has got me thinking productively.

What do you use?
Do you use anything at all?
What is your system or process?

I've used a few like dotProject, BaseCamp, Project Pier, and a handful of others. I went through a phase of testing all of the others out there too, most of which are hosted. Still not sure which one I like best, that is why I was asking to see what others are using and like best.

Ace Project was one I tested out. Definitely a complex system, and I liked it over a few of the open source scripts.

It depends on the project for me. for my "core" team I use Groove. For JV projects, I use Google Groups (I hate using email for project communications, groups works better). For software projects I use Mantis Bug Tracker

If I didn't have Mantis in place for my latest project, we would have been lost. It has been a godsend for managing priorities and tasks.

  Mantis is definitely a great bug tracking solution, and its a freebie. I am hoping to find something that has the power of Mantis, but also lets you think ahead and build to-do lists, etc. Unfortunately many times it is hard to find one tool to do it all.

  To work with others, I use HighRise Contact Manager, Web Based CRM, Address Book for Small Business: Highrise
  
  To manage my To Do lists I use HighRise, OmniFocus, and Things.
  
  To manage keywords, I use DevonThink Pro; overkill, but I keep a lot of keyword information, and DevonThink Pro lets me find info I want at a click.

I use dotproject

My clients like it. They can check progress on tasks and upload material for me if they need their site updated.
