WP Zon builder - auto-blog? keep it or toss it?

Does this wordpress plugin count as an auto-blogger? I have it on this one site and after the google update recently, it went from page 2 to page 65...
My only other thought is that I also had deleted a ton of irrelevant posts and made some changes to the post title tags.

I have WP Zon builder on some other sites. Is it safe to use, or should I dump it?

It sounds like junk to me. I would dump it if it is putting crap content on your site. You don't want to get slapped by Google. Recovering from a slap is very hard. I know. It has happened to me.

Keep it for the product posts. However add some unique content articles to your site as well.

That was my intention, but I only got around to adding unique content to a few of the posts before the slap. I'm busily working on adding content to the other sites. I originally wanted the plugin to add augment my own posts.

The slap, or whatever it was, happened to a second site and the only correlation is that I also deleted a bunch of stuff on that site too. My sites that have the plugin that haven't had content deleted don't seem to be affected. Does deleting content negatively effect serps?

Yes, you can keep it. The reason you may have experienced the drop in rankings is because many other people are using auto-bloggers. Most of the content they retrieve is duplicated so many times you're lucky to get on page 1 without other efforts like building backlinks and such.

      Hi Mike,

I happened on this thread searching to see if anyone has had the same experience as me with WP Zon.

I have three small sites that I have used WP Zon on just recently.

All three had unique content and were ranked in the top 10 in Google.

Over the past 8 weeks I published between 10 and 25 posts using WP Zon.

All 3 have been slapped within the last few weeks - totally disappeared from Google's index. They are still in the top 3 in Yahoo and Bing though.

Ha! Unbelieveable. I just had another site bite the dust, too. I'm gonna have to get rid of zon builder.

Yep, I'm removing all trace of Zon Builder and starting the rescue mission on these sites.

What's involved in your rescue mission?? I'm half considering just leaving them where they lay and focusing on other sites. You'll have to keep us updated!

You can create a category "Articles" separate it from your own articles and post all the junks there and link back so that it appears you are just providing a service to your readers. Nothing wrong with that.

TOSS IT! Auto blogging is DEAD! You won't get any rankings from the big "G" I'll bet you that. They've made it known that they're onto the game and they will zap you.

      G'day Mike,

      Here's what I'm doing:

      1. Removing all trace of Zon Builder content
      2. Packing up the blog (I use Backup Buddy)
      3. Moving over to another host account (new IP)
      4. Change the WP theme
      5. On the main content pages alter the title, meta description, author name, H tags, alt tags
      6. Rebuild the XML sitemap
      7. Build a handful of new links.

It should take no longer than 1 hour. I'll let you know if it works.

Easy Now. No need to be talking down a good Product (my product), for the wrong reasons. Most people would agree that if you build a good site, with good content, google will like you more.

WP Zon Builder Posts Amazon products to your site, it does not claim to be a autoblog. You pick products, categories, brands etc. It is a tool to help make a nice looking Amazon product posts. Just like any other tool it can be used to make something good or bad. It is up to the user. I have seen awesome sites and crappy sites.

        Facts
WPZonBuilder.com has 5 (five) WP Zon Builder sites (with Amazon products) on it, here is the link you can see them yourself. In fact, this site is ranked on First page of google for several keyword phrases. Here is 1 example "amazon wordpress plugin"

Why? WPZonBuilder.com has good content, it is organized nicely, faqs, blog posts, demos, videos, etc. And yes, 5 (five) WP Zon Builder installs with Amazon products. Its all good.

        ----------

I suggest that there might be other reasons why your sites are having problems. Can you think of things that would make your sites better?

You can use this as an opportunity to turn lemons into lemonade. Take this opportunity to adjust your plan for the future. Layout a plan for good sites with good content, categories, helpful tips, videos, etc.

Use the technique I used on my site, content area in one directory and products area (WP Zon Builder) in another directory. Add good content, then point visitors to your product and categories with links in the content area.

Also, find ways to get traffic from other sources besides google. Think of any google traffic as a bonus. I offer a free ebook at our site - 20 ways to get traffic.

Be kind, build good sites and best of luck.

        Mike

Hi Mike I'm a newbie and I've just purchased wp zon builder last week. I understand your point clearly and this is a good suggestion. My problem is I'm not very clear on how to go about doing what you have suggested. I would really appreciate if you could let me know the steps to do this or is there any tutorial video you can point me to?

          Appreciate you help.

          Thank you
