People Under 20 - Take Massive Action, Stop Reading!

I just want to say, I first got interested in IM when I was around 18, I never really took action. I studied almost every day and when I moved home I was out of work for 3 months where I did nothing but study...when I should have been taking action.

I eventually gave in, got a temp job, started doing web development and earning an average income. I may as well have been hired. Hell, even now, nothing is secure; single income streams never are.

I'm 24 now and thinking about going in the Royal Navy for 17k a year...that's ridiculous at my age. I'd enjoy the career but damn it I could have been in the Navy for 8 years by now! I lived in my mums house the past 8 years, doing nothing but work for other people and even though I have a lot of satisfied clients, money still = working my ass off.

If I actually took action within IM those past 8 years you think I would be here considering a career and starting salary at 17k? NO! I knew somebody all that time back who was as enthusiastic as I was about IM, he studied, but he also took action (Affiliate Marketing). He now has several well selling products and frequently enjoys his time in Las Vegas.

So, please heed this warning. If you're not careful you will reach a certain age, and because you didn't take action you will realize you have to make some huge sacrifices for minimal returns in the name of your future and potential family. At a certain age you just can't afford to invest time for potential profits.

Think passive income, and if you have the savings don't even THINK about falling into a routine of doing the labour. Never ever ever fall into that trap. I did, and I am so sorry I did.

Hope somebody finds this helpful.

Very helpful. Im one of those people that need to constantly assess my progress in order to keep at it. Keep taking action.

Also wana say that there are some 35,40,45 year old+ people sitting around wishing they had taken action in their twenties so it aint over for you man. You sound like you know a heck of a lot about IM.

    cheers

You need to enjoy what you do. Joining the Navy on a 17k starting salary might be the best thing you've ever done. You might absolutely love it and never look back. It's not all about how much money you make. It's more about how happy you are.

I know. That's mainly why I said I'd enjoy it right after I mentioned the starting salary. I always wanted to go in the Navy. Still, I'd enjoy many things but at some point you have to get real! Can I afford to raise a family on this salary? In the end, it all comes down to that. Unless of course you don't plan on having a family.

This is a good reminder for people, because everyone may need to stop and look at what they are doing at the moment so they can make sure they are DOING things instead of PLANNING to do things in the future. Many people may find themselves in a state of inaction that will snowball out of control if continued for too long. But also, it is never too late to start and succeed especially at only 24!

Good point x3xsolxdierx3x, you can apply as an officer (starting salary 25-30k), providing you have min 180 UCAS points and can give examples of your leadership and teamwork skills. Also, 17k is just a starting salary, it'll go up.

    • Thank you, I think I needed this thread.

IM actually first started for me when I was around 15/16. I used to sell ebooks on ebay and I think I made around £800 before ebay stopped allowing you to sell electronic info.

I have no idea why, but after ebay banned selling ebooks, I stopped altogether. Didn't even consider the fact that there were other ways of making money.

4 years pass and I find clickbank through sheer luck (so glad I did) and haven't looked back since. That first sale is all you need before you realise that the sky is the limit.

Age isn't a barrier. Although I do get where you are coming from. I started out around 4 years ago and I'm now making bigger and better strides than ever.

Surround yourself with similar people in similar or better situations that help you to aspire to do more and be better.

Having a mentor is definitely a plus. By paying them you are ultimately putting yourself into a situation where you have to and want to succeed. Why you would want to pay someone for no reason. Also in my case I don't want to disappoint the person who is helping me through. So it is helping me to strive to complete my objectives.

There is no problem with joining the Royal Navy. You have to do what is right for you at this point in time.

I don't think its too late for you to try again because its not how old you are that matters but what you can achieve. Starting with a salary of 17k isn't that bad, but better than those who don't earn at all.

The cycle of endless reading with no action is the most dangerous spiral in IM.

I truly believe nothing hinders you more than choosing to sit on the sidelines.

This is definitely true based on my experience. I guess it comes from feeling like you need to know any and everything before you start.

The funny thing is knowing what works for you based on your own experiences/actions is worth a whole lot more than the random successes/failures of forum members and other business acquaintances.

I understand wanting to know each and every nook and cranny before you start but from what I've learned it doesn't happen this way.

Get a good solid base of information. Act on it. Evaluate results. Act again. Repeat.

That's the worst you can do, never look behind. 8 years ago you weren't probably ready for ir. Look forward.

I'm in my thirties and feel the same way. But as someone said, maybe you weren't ready and had other things you needed to do. I find that life unfolds in the way it should, even if we don't know why/how things happen.

That doesn't make me feel better for waiting so long though!

People should read this with 100% caution, this could happen to you and happens to so many others not just the thread starter. It happened to me for several years, until I realised no matter how much I know about online marketing, unless I take action I am not going to get anywhere.

    So - TAKE ACTION!

Really helpful and inspiring post. I also regret with what I'm doing now, I'm 23 and have a crap job, I started to learn IM since 3 months ago and being IM is my part time job.

Last week my job contract is over so company offered new contract. And since my income not really steady from IM so I have to sign that curse of job contract. If I do this Internet Marketing when I was in college, I believe I never apply the job which is feel like living in hell when no people from company call you AND travel the world without having worry where I can earn money. So now what I have to do is work harder because regret never give me a chance to go back to the past.

    Cheers

Spot on, Damien! Time does pass us by much too quickly and my suggestion to you would be to join the Navy if that is what you feel drawn to do. Chances are you will have many careers and things that you wish to do in your life but nothing happens until you move forward.

I've had probably half a dozen careers in my life. Most never paid anything to write home about but I've had some remarkable experiences.

I think that it's often fear that keeps people from taking action. "What if I fail? I don't know what I'm doing... I don't know where to start... what if it's not perfect? People will make fun of me... my family and friends won't take me seriously..." Just all that talk that goes on inside your head...

The best way to learn is by doing and life's experience will teach you lessons that can't be taught in a class room...

Setup a goal, give it a deadline and say something like I Will Make $2,000 Online By Selling/Creating/Doing XYZ Before The First Of July. Work towards that goal, let all your knowledge be useful and FORCE it to make it happen. Gradually build up your goals, set them higher as you reach certain goals and just believe in ENDLESS POTENTIAL that we all carry with us at all time. Im sorry to be so brutally honest but your current mentality is that of a LOSER and not a WINNER. Its like what Napoleon Hill said: A QUITER Never Wins And A WINNER Never Quits!

You know that it can be done, you see the potential everywhere so why dont you snap out of it, kick yourself, work smart and efficient, keep the focus and start getting results.

    Just do it my friend!
I wish. This is the problem now. $2000 by July? That's peanuts. To even be a viable option it would have to be something you could live on, like say $1500/month with the absolute path to increase that to $15-20k/month by scaling/whatever.

This is why I've posted this thread. This kind of opportunity when first getting started, when you still live with your mum, when you have zero responsibilities is such a godsend you don't even know it.

Sadly, how can you seriously afford to work for potential profits? Many smarter people fail, and although fear of failure is not a concern it is the possibility which doesn't deter me, but dictates that I cannot afford to risk the time needed.

Anyway, this isn't really about me, it is more a warning for other people who were where I was. I'll create another thread 'for me'.

Action is always paramount. It's a shame that most people don't do it, but it does make life easier for other marketers.

I read yesterday (think it was Michael Campbell's blog) that the best time was to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.

    Kinda apt.

I really think that it is never too early or too late to take action when it comes to making money online.

There are some very rich kids online who are making 5-6 figures per year and there are also men and women who are in their 60' and 70's and are making really great incomes online both as affiliates, vendors, and network marketers.
