    Here's a possible plan:
    1. Start with having a business website for the company.
    2. Make the blog a sub folder of that site.
    3. Add web 2.0 pages, like facebook and twitter, as satellites pointing to your main site.
    4. Add back links to your main pages and to your web 2.0 pages.
    5. Use many of the hundreds of traffic getting techniques you can find on this forum.

Don't rely on 1 or 2 techniques, mix many. Make your own web site your main effort. The satellite sites are secondary.

If it's an ecommerce website I would go and buy Perry Marshall's definite guide to Adwords and implement it on your site.

This will give you great sales statistics quickly which you can use to grow your business.

    1. Submit your site to such as Yahoo Local Listings, Yelp, City Search, Yellopages, and Google Places.
    2. Create a Facebook fan page
    3. Post any specials that you may have in free classified sites such as Craigslist, Backpage, Kijiji, and Usfreeads.
    4. Create business cards and/or flyers and distribute them locally
    5. Pay someone on Fiverr to make a video about your business and then submit it to Tube Mogul- This site will share your video to multiple video sharing site for free.

Agree with all of the above. Even if your business is virtual having a Google Places listing can get you some local traffic to your site. As a previous poster mentioned, submitting press releases will be great. I suggest a press release once site is running, a press release for specials or discounts, press release for events you might hold. We run press releases for practically everything, especially for our celebrity clients.

The best thing to do is:

    - have a direction for the "look" wanted
    - hire a good photographer
    - hire great-looking models
    - hire a good stylist to ensure the "look" is acheived
    ( and I don't mean a hair stylist )

Put it on a website that is easy to use.

Promote the website in PRINT in RELEVANT physical, real-world places.

    Example:

Club type clothes? Posters in Nightclub washrooms
and offer GIFT CERTIFICATES that the club gives away
    every night in exchange.

Menswear? ( Suits ) - get into gyms locker rooms with
    the posters.

Casual and business wear - find the restaurants that
the market goes to and pay to have a full page ad in
    their MENU
