Craigslist has always been sort of a hit and miss for me.
Sometimes the response is very good, and other times, not one response.
I think it is all about finding the right words.
It is a free place to place ads, and with the economy like it is now, I think free pretty much fits anyone's budget these days

I never could figure out the bulk posting thing but I'm not sure if it would be very beneficial for my niche anyway. I mean, not "everybody" needs favors, you know? ROFLMAO!! :rolleyes:

No. The post may expire but you can simply go into your account to manage the ad and relist it.

This is very, very true. I've noticed that CL has really cracked down on a lot of that lately. It used to be that as soon as I listed an ad, I got hammered with spam emails. That hasn't happened lately though, thank goodness.

I've also noticed a really big drop in repeat ads, but then that could just be in the two or three particular sections that I frequent for my searches. I couldn't say about the rest of the site though.

That's true - the last MMO I posted was taken down as spam. But I sold furniture and cars on CL with good success.

I have been using Craigslist for more than three years now and currently still use it with successful results. While some of you I see have had seemingly bad results I will share a few methods you can use to turn this potential negative into a positive.

I use Craigslist for multiple reasons:

First I use it as a testing ground for my ad copy. Without a decent ad copy your results on classifieds or even websites will be sub par. This site is an excellent place to practice proper ad copy and really set yourself apart from the rest of your competition posting classifieds. I like creating my own ad copy as it increases my personal skill set.

Practice your ad copy to become a bit more consistent in your results, as the old saying goes "Practice makes perfect".

Second I use it to keep traffic flowing to my websites, and opportunities. As LowKey mentioned it's a nice place to establish back links and depending on the site you are promoting can boost it's ranking slightly.

Third Those browsing on this site almost always have the intent to buy. So I use it as a source of sales as well, yes there will be a number window shoppers however good ad copy will decrease the odds of encountering them.

Fourth It's a great place to promote lesser programs, products, and services you have yet to devote your full attention. I am no doubt alone in this scenario when I say I have multiple forms of income. Some of these forms used to often be neglected while I worked on bigger projects. Classifieds are an excellent way to keep those lesser forms generating income.

So to answer your question son "Is Craigslist really useful?" Yes to those that approach it with the intent to improve their marketing tactics. No for those that are simply looking to make sales. I hope I shed some light on the situation for you.
