How To Build a Own Mail List?

Hi there, can anyone recommend a good mail list builder without subscribing to any auto responder program?. Thanks a lot in advance.

There are many self-hosted mailing-list scripts out there, such as PHPList and Dada Mail. A quick Google search for "php mailing list", "cgi mailing list", "asp mailing list" or "self-hosted mailing list", etc., should return many options to choose from.

However, be aware of the policies of your web host and/or ISP, as many of them prohibit the sending of bulk emails (particularly of a commercial nature), and may suspend/terminate your account - without notice - if you are in breach of them.

Also note that one of the biggest selling points of a paid-for, non-self-hosted mailing-list/autoresponder service is the email deliverability rates. The companies behind these services spend a lot of time, money and resources negotiating their way onto spam whitelists (or off blacklists, for that matter ) and such. This offers them a certain added immunity to being blocked so easily as other senders (not that I'm saying being reported is okay, but it can happen from time to time), whilst significantly increasing email deliverability rates.

Just something to bear in mind.

Your list is one of 'the' if not the most valuable asets of your business so you need to get it right otherwise you could lose it or get black listed from your isp. Of course there are self hosted options out there but to do them right they will not be cheaper (when starting out) than any ready made autoresponder as you'll need dedicated hosting.
You should remember that many of the autoresponders offer a first month deal anyway. For instance aweber off a $1 trial for the first month.

I made a little program out of interest really that returned a list of email addresses based on a Search Query. It got banned from this Forum I could totally see why it was open to spamming. I best not mention it.
