what is the best way to make money using free sites

Hi,
I know its been said and i rightly concur that it is better to own your own domain and host it instead of depending on free websites.
I will like to know how best it will be to use a free site and make it profitable without losing the site too soon.
Or put in another way, who has made good money using free blogs for affiliate marketing.

    I've never used free sites to make money so I'm not sure I can answer that particularly well, however, as a heads up, the link in your signature goes to a "Page not found" page.

      You can use free sites the same as your own domain and hosting. Just check the terms of service for the free site provider.

      You can monetize with Amazon, AdSense, Clicbank products, build a list, cpa offers. Pretty much anything you can do with your own.

        I've always found it a bit of a myth the way some will diss free websites.
        I've used uCoz and Weebly and have often managed to acheive page 1 of Google ranking after updating my site(s).
        If the content of your site is powerfu/luseful eg. not just another how to make money online article of which there are billions you will succeed.Good luck whatever you decide.

          When using the free sites, do you worry about them disappearing on you overnight? since you do not own them...

          Question #2, other than saving money in hosting and domain name, is there any other benefit of monetizing the free sites you create?

    When I always make a site it's usually a wordpress blog because its so simple to use and maintain over a long time. Remember that Google love wordpress blogs, so if your doing an SEO based website make a wordpress blog because it can be really profitable.

    I personally wouldn't use free sites to make money, for me it's not professional, not authentic, but that's my opinion.
    Paying 97 dollars a year for hosting, and an extra 10 for the domain is fine for me.
    Any road you choose, free or self-hosted, I recommend wordpress, it has a lot of great plugins and themes. You can monetize it by putting out ads(some themes are designed in a way that there is place for banners in them), or by selling your digital goods through the eStore plugin, or by creating a membership site (I recommend MagicMembers, it has an intuitive admin panel, and an affiliate module).
    Last, but not least: Create useful and unique content

    I used Awardspace's free service for a number of years, although I did purchase my own domain name. I would be sure to check out the TOS, though, as many free sites do not allow business use.
