Now with that being said you still need to learn from people that will actually show you what works instead of promising the world and delivering nothing but BS and crap.

The best way to sell anything online is to create an online presence and provide value. The more you give the more you receive is as true in life as it is in business.

Get people to like and trust you and they will buy from you!

There is NO free lunch or get rich schemes out there. Study and IMPLEMENT and you will find the answers. The key i've found to success is always keep moving forward. You only fail when you quit!

BTW, where you're from is just a cop out. It means absolutely nothing to your success. It will only effect you if you let it.

This is true. After all, internet marketing is all about being able to make money from anywhere you choose, isn't it?

However, with that being said, it may be more difficult and there could be certain obstacles you'd have to overcome in order to engage in internet marketing in certain countries. These obstacles are not impossible to surmount, though.

People do not need to know that you are from Nigeria in you IM business. If you are throwing out there that you are Nigeria then yes that will have a negative effect on your business but don't do that. As long as you have good business ethics you have nothing to worry about.

I agree. There is a reason that everyone has heard of "Nigerian scams" and, unfortunately, that does reflect poorly on millions of other Nigerians who would never think of doing such a thing.

I have to admit that, if I were a potential customer, I would be very nervous, so I would suggest trying to work even more closely with your customers and trying to re-educate them by showing them that most Nigerians are honest, able businessmen, just like everywhere else.

If you have a website, maybe you could make a page for the sole purpose of addressing this issue. Let them know that you are aware of this problem, you understand their concern, and these are the reasons why they don't have to worry about doing business with you.

You hit the hammer on the nail. I know that the “Nigerian things”, I mean their involvements in other internet scams have become oppositions to most of us that are doing legitimate biz from there. Take for instant; I personally observed that most of our clients quit the moments they out where we are coming from.

All I need is for the world to know that we are honest and should be giving the kinds of chances that those in US have.

We including myself have a lot to offer but I hate to be seen as a fool b/c of the wrongs of those that lack principles and honesty which without it no one can succeed in internet or any biz.

I started IM since 2008 but it is a pity that up till now I ve not even a made a dime, not even s single sale. So my friend said it was due to the fact that I refused to claim a foreigner like most of them do. But how can I lie to the extend of pretending to be in London while am right here in my father’s land- South.

Interesting assumption. I dont know what colour you are, nor do I care. If you have something to sell that I want, I will buy it. However if I see you are located in Nigeria, all bets are off. It's not your fault there's all those Nigerian email scams are going around, but they do put a negative view on anyone from that country. I guess until the Nigerian scams are stopped permanently you are going to have a problem unless you move elsewhere.

I dont live in the US or London and our small biz is doing well. You dont know what colour I am, nor does it matter.

Pretty much everything has been said already. The biggest hurdle is your nationality, to be sure. Nigerian scams have been going on for such a long time, it's increasingly difficult to find someone who has not heard of them. Consequently, they are nervous. I know I am, the moment I see Nigeria in an offer.

I would add that it might benefit you to examine those Nigerian scams. Notice how they present their "offers". From what I've seen, they all reference terms related to "God", "Blessed", "Dearest...." "My Beloved" something or other. They also use a lot of ALL CAPS in their letters. They also contain poor grammar.

Such emails use a certain "tone" that is unnatural to those of us in the West... an overly sweet, dear, caring tone. If you compare such a letter to any other letter from a stranger, you will soon see the difference I'm talking about.

Avoid sending those signals at all costs.

Eliminate those catch-words from your content and emails.

Have someone proofread your material if you are not 100% sure of your English (written and otherwise). That person should have a good command of the language, preferably with experience in editing. Even better if they are native English, although that's not always necessary. Many non-native English have an excellent command of English.

Set up a "real" business - which includes real contact information on a stable site on a good hosting company. Make it easy for people to check you out. If you have a domain, put pertinent information into the registration so it shows up in WhoIs. Sketchy information leads to suspicion.

Add an About Us page on your site and provide your background, education and expertise in whatever business you are offering. Be specific, like if you have a degree from an established college in your country, provide that name. Give a real address where you can be located, along with a viable phone number as your contact info.

All these things will help to alleviate people's suspicions. Plus, they give the impression that you are serious about your business.

You might even include an FAQ page with typical questions people might have about your offer and perhaps even some questions about why they should trust you.

You certainly can succeed online if you approach it the right way. Don't try to hide. Speak to your visitors and customers in a friendly manner so they feel comfortable as soon as you make contact, either when they read your web copy or you send an email.

Get your site listed in as many reputable places as you can. This will show people that you are a viable company and will not be disappearing in 24 hours, as happens with the Nigerian scam offers. They send their emails, nab some gullible individuals and then shut down quickly, only to reopen under another name somewhere else.

If you can show that you are stable, you will gain their trust. But it will take time and that extra effort on your part.

When you're done, you will have a good reputation and will succeed.

Well, it's easy to presume that he already has some such system in place, since he's already been trying to sell something for awhile. He couldn't have been doing that if he didn't have a method of taking payments, unless he expected people to send him a cheque or a bank draft for their purchases.

Since he doesn't specify what he means about being in Nigeria, we can only offer random advice. Someone already did mention an alternate form of payment beyond PayPal. If there are other marketers here in that part of the world, maybe they can offer more options in that regard.

Your nationality does not matter. Your ability to write fluent English does - if you are marketing to english speakers. If your sales copy is not written in a normal English way, people will zone out immediately.

Otherwise, no one knows what the nationality is of the person behind the screen. It is immaterial.
