Facebook Fan Pages- DIY or Outsource?

Those of you who use Facebook fan pages for your marketing...

What's your strategy for creating them? (or which WOULD you do if you don't have a page yet)

Strategies I can think of...

1. Figure out everything yourself (time consuming)
2. Pay for a product (~$67) that goes over how to use iFrames, has professional templates, proven marketing strategies to put together the entire fanpage yourself in ~2 hours
3.Get someone else to do it for you and get you 1,000 real fans (cost about $300, no effort from you, but costly)

    Here is what I would do...

    1. Do some research and find 3 WSOs that cover the topic (price of a WSO is $37 max! on that topic)
    2. Buy the WSO that seems to offer the best value for your money
    3. Study that WSO.
    4. Do the easy things yourself and outsource what you can't do or don't want to do.

    Result:
    1. You will have excellent knowledge about the topic
    2. You will have an excellent and working fanpage
    3. You have spend probably less than $67 and for sure less than $300.

    I really think it depends on your proficiency with that kind of stuff. I would just do it myself personally.

    Setting up Facebook fan pages is easy to do.

    But it's the regular posting (marketing) that consumes work.

      This is exactly my concern. It's important to check your fan page on a regular bases. If you actually have the time to do that, then i guess there's really no need to outsource.

    Go for outsourcing on this one...

    Once you find someone who can do this for you, and do it well, you have the ability to scale your efforts without eating up more of your time.

    The money maker is the active comments, not the fan "like" count. First ask yourself why you want a fan page.

    I have always wondered, why the big deal over fan page design. The only time I have ever visited any page that I "liked" was when I liked it. After that, I have never went back to one. I just read the updates on my wall.

    Some one care to explain, so I can get in the loop on this one?

    I would prefer doing it myself.

    I would take some time to learn and then play with the mud rather than forsake the joy of getting my hands dirty.

    Anyway, there are free tools available which will help you out in creating wonderful fan pages, although you may have to be a designer in order to make it look appeasing and professional.

    I can recommend getting the design and some really great functions done by a pro.. all the cool arrows, graphics, hide/reveal type of content to get likes and then email opt ins are powerful and improve conversions a lot!

    Figuring it out yourself is never really the way to go. Always remember that your time is worth so much more than money. Because money can be replaced. Your time can't!
