I felt a little guilty for promoting on Good Friday

Hi Guys,

Today is Good Friday, and I think many countries are observing this as a holy day of prayer and observance.

But not being aware at first, I sent a promo out to my lists today. Only after I broadcasted it that I realize the significance of the day and that some people might get offended.

I don't know if people would consider it as a sign of disrespect, but I sort of felt guilty. Just wondering how our international Warriors treat Good Friday. Is it like a regular day for you or do you treat it as a holy day?

Thanks,
Michael

    Hi,

I'm working. I think the numbers are around 3% go to church on a regular basis. I respect their beliefs but each to their own. There are many other religious days around the world that go unnoticed, so why should it be different for Easter, which after all, is the belief system of one subset?

    Regards Allen

I don't think anyone will be offended but think you'll find business wise, this was a bad time to spend.

It is bank holiday today and Monday and most people will be traveling to see family and such so won't be online.

I don't think many people are on their PC today especially with the sun shining here in the UK

This is an easy fix. If you feel guilty about promoting or doing business on specific holidays then don't do business on those holidays regardless of anyone else's actions.

When I was a kid I used to go to Mass every week
and especially Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

You can be sure that the church passed around the
collection plate at every service - including Easter
      and Christmas.

I agree with you.. there are some big holidays that I do avoid promoting or advertising to my list. I don't think many people would take it as offensive anyhow.

I agree, but I will also say dont feel bad because the church still going to past around the offering plate :0) Last year I sent out an email on xmas day and it was a video of me and my family and I offer a coaching package for very cheap and I got a few sales. In reality if people don't check your mail because the holidays they will check it sooner or later

I find that business is pretty slow during Easter holiday and I leave my list alone. But I am not offended by marketing on Easter weekend, but then I'm not a religious type.

      Some thoughts, Michael.

How many in your lists are Catholics?

Where are majority of them based from?

How many of them take events like Good Friday seriously?

Just remember you won't please everyone. For those who do take offense, it's
fine to say sorry for maybe hitting their sensibilities.

Besides, at the end of the day, who'll decide what's "good" for you or not? But
if you really feel a little guilty, just don't do it again.

      You'll be ok anyway.

Just to clarify, not just Catholics celebrate Good Friday--Protestants do as well.

That said it's not a big deal--it's not like they stop commercials on religious holidays, and most of my family members have to work today as a 'regular day', so.

And just to clarify it even further, Orthodox Christians celebrate Good Friday on the same date this year as well.

It is holiday in India and most people are having fun rather then concentrating on their business or job.

so if folks aren't at work, then they won't be offended because they won't see your email today and if they are at work, they probably don't mind a little more info to read over the weekend.

Unless your niche was in someway disrespectful to those who celebrate it, I don't see the problem.

My phone bill was due today and I paid it. AT&T is not concerned with my beliefs and I'm OK with it.

Conducting business with me on a religious holiday is only offensive to me if that business is disrespectful.

  • Don't worry too much Michael, if they were that bothered about it being a religious day, they probably won't even open their email until tomorrow!

When was the last time the internet shut down for a holiday?

If it's a big deal they would opt-out of your list.

That's what the GOOD in Good Friday stands for. A GOOD day to make a ton of cash. I patiently await the day when the world will achieve a collective intelligence high enough to abolish organized religion. Bill Maher, can I get an AMEN! from the back row? Thanks brother

I purchased three WSO's today, so I am not offended. There are people I know that wont eat meat on fridays during Lent, but they spend their fridays at the strip club every week...go figure that one out!

Then take a break. Who told you that you HAVE to work a day you don't feel good working? Isn't that part of why you want to work online anyway?
