how long does it take a news blog to become popular

Hello,

I was wondering about the time it takes a news blog to become popular or start earning adsense money.

I heard that a blog must be kept for an year or so to be able to start earning money or to get popular. Is that true? or does it take 2 years or more?

    Depends on the writing. If it's the same stuff they can get anywhere else, like on Google News and Yahoo News, etc., and you don't do any promoting and SEO, it may never be popular. If you offer something that the other sites don't, it could catch on.

    Well, I think sbucciarel might be right. I know that and I have written an article on that, however, there are exceptions to it. For example, readwriteweb has similar news as mashable but it got popular. I don't know how or why?

      My experience with my ufo and paranormal blog was TOO Frikin LONG!

      You have to really break some massive news to get picked up.

      Everyone is selling the same stories.

      You need one of two things in this industry.

      #1 Patience + Persistence and lots of both!

      #2 Breaking news story. Or just make one up. Plenty of people do it.

    I just had to share this. Been watching this auction on Flippa. The url is private and I've blanked out the name of the site. You have to sign a non-disclosure to view the auction. This news site was created in Jan of this year and has been a GNews site for 6 weeks.

      LOL, yea... If you manage to get on Google News site, you will get loads of traffic. However, I don't have a lot of writers writing for the blog yet. So I guess I have to wait.

    it depend on your quality of contents. if your post are good then it can take about one month to get popular. but it need a lot of hard work and quality works.sometimes it also depend on the reputation of sites. you can also share your comments in facebook too.
