What are you most desperate for from a Graphic Designer?

Greetings All,

I am working to evolve my offline freelance graphic design business into an online product business. I want to move from graphic design project based work to selling a type of graphic design product.

I am brainstorming product creation ideas, and I would really like your opinion. So, please tell me, as you start or build your own business, what would you most want from a graphic designer?

What would make your life/business easier? (information about color choices? a package of coordinated buttons, banners and headers?) What are you most desperate for?

Thank you for your time!
Christine

P.S. I am already giving away free professional graphics on my website, Christine Vogensen, however, I can always create more and package them as a product. The possibilities are endless, but I really want to know what you would want.

    Report Covers
    Ebook Templates

Something with a web 2.0 look. There are many templates out there, but they suck. They all use yellow, purple, cyan, and other "off" colors. Ebooks and reports need authoritative colors. Royal blue, crimson and black, etc.

They also need to be in separate PSD files. That way, I can pick one quickly without messing around in photoshop. It should be as simple as entering the title, author, and website. Then export and dump it into the pdf.

That's my 2 cents. Hope it helps your product creation.

    Hi Christine,

I do my own graphics, and they look "good enough." I get by.

Your question is a tough one because the basic areas seem a bit
limited, or perhaps finite is a better word.

There are several huge PLR graphics packages floating around with
tons of all the stuff people generally want. Some of these are free,
    if perhaps all of them.

I think most successful marketers already have their outsourcees in
place to handle graphics. Plus there are a lot of freelancers around,
and in here, as you probably already know.

One thing I always thought looked pretty sharp was a PDF with really
great graphics; header and perhaps a little something for a footer. I've
only seen just a few that were all tricked-out and looked really good. I
tend to think that adds to the quality of an ebook.

I've seen one or two services, offered as WSOs, that offered that kind
of ebook graphic enhancement. They were a little on the expensive side,
    as I recall.

I don't know how much of a demand there is for that type of service.

It is interesting you mentioned color selection. I've always paid attention
to color schemes especially from an angle of the market/product and colors
as they may be appropriate. There is also the area of study involving colors
and emotions. I do know of people who were able to increase conversions by
only changing the color scheme for a landing page or a site.

So, with that in mind, perhaps you could test something like packs of headers,
footers, product covers, etc for various niches and products that are in the
    appropriate or "conversion-optimized" color schemes.

You could put an ebook together with info on effects of color on emotions. Then
provide a list of "popular" niches with color schemes that would be optimal to
use. But I don't know how much that would grab people, even though it is a
valid area of study or consideration.

I'm trying to think of things that are different because, other than freelancing, it
seems everything's really sort of over-done just a bit in the graphics area. Or
at least that is my impression.

    Sorry don't have more ideas...

    One word...professionalism.

I want my covers to look like they came straight off one of the shelves in Barnes and Noble. A simple, yet professional design. Minimalism at it's best.

The one thing that drives me absolutely crazy these days are all the ebook covers with flames, tidal waves, ninjas, swat team members, and all that other mess on them.

    OVERKILL!

    But hey...that's just my opinion.

  • I usually do my own, as well, but I think most people would ask for ecovers (especially), logos and possibly banners. Probably in that order.
