Exact Match Domians - Copy Right?

Hello

I was just wondering with exact match domains for a physical product, what the issues may be with copy right? Is there anything you can add on the end to make it less likely to run into a copy right issue? I know if you are promoting their product that might be fine, just wondered how others go about exact match keywords in the domain?

    It's only a matter of time before you will get a 'desist' notice. Might take years though. So, if you go in with your eyes wide open and accept that one day, you may lose the entire website, then it may be a risk worth taking. Having said, I used to take the risk, now I don't... it's heartbreaking to see a successful site taken down (and it's normally when they're successful, you start to get noticed by the trade mark owners).       With a domain name, the issue you're looking at is trademark, not copyright.

      The answer is going to depend on what you're doing with the site, mostly. You'd need to speak with a lawyer about the specifics to get anything close to a definitive answer. It's very fact-based stuff.

      General rule: Avoid it, unless you've got the green light from a lawyer who's really well-informed about the issue. Even then, it can be an expensive crap-shoot. And no, I am not such a lawyer. (Or any other kind.)
