My new site, what does everyone think?

It's actually a really cool idea. I think you have something here, but your design needs some work. It's just kind of plain right now, lacks visual interest. I like the idea though.. pretty cool how you integrated a chat for each cam.

My only suggestion is to swap out the image of the dude standing under the tree/rainbow since it's commonly used on that particular theme by a lot of people.

It's easy to replace the image - just right click and download it. Then modify it in photoshop - perhaps replace it with a "cam" related graphic. You can maintain the faded blue background and black underline and integrate the new graphic perfectly without a lot of work.

A tiny change like that can make a world of a difference visually!

i am having troubles on IE.

When you create a site, make sure it works on all browswers. otherwise you might lose customers. and lost customers equals lost sales.

Remember people out there are using IE, Google chrome, Safari

I have an app similar to this on my iphone, and they allow you to favorite a cam if you find one you like.

I think that your website is amazing! Good job. Now if you could just put it in more attractive areas...you would probably increase your traffic.

Hey Palmer, I like it! I ended up spending a while just clicking to see what comes up! Excellent idea! Let me echo what others have said - a cleaner design would be better. Also, it would be cool to be able to see what cameras are close to me.

I like the idea... very original. Yeah, you may want to spice up the pages a smidge. & try to get IE available since it seems alot of people use int. expl. But besides that... good job & good luck with that

Yep good site, good idea. Def overhaul the graphics and layout.

Not sure how no one has mentioned this yet but why isn't there a way to 'share' an interesting cam located on each cam page? Users can copy/paste the URL but a share button will be much more useful.

Like if someone is browsing a city street cam on there and there is an accident or a boss is chewing out an employee in an office cam and they wanna quickly share the incident with others before it ends, there needs to be a way to do this.

Your idea is very good but you have to improve the site more still amateurish looking...

No idea how you created your site, but well done for doing so.

I think the design is OK - not sure if you have changed it since the start of this thread... the only feature I would like is to choose the camera I am looking at, not to just have the random option. But that's just me.

That's pretty awesome, I'm impressed.

Whether or not that is legal I am not sure but it is still pretty unique to anything I've come across. I suppose now the only question is how to monetize.

It has a very interesting offer. I find the header too large though as it occupies most of my screen. That's just my two cents

The site works well, its a good idea and congrats for implementing it!

The only thing I will say is, I don't think that site template is particularly brandable. As mentioned, the homepage graphic is quite common, and the colours are quite gloomy (imo).

Freshen up the theme a bit and it could be really succesful!

Some of the cameras are in some prtty crazy locatons. Restaurants, shops, operating theatres.

I do love the idea of announcing activity on the wall, but you should find a way to make the links clickable there. I'm too lazy to type it out, and I'm finding it almost impossible to highlight, copy, and paste.

But I love that idea. It's a good way to keep people on the site. Maybe you could make that more prominent. Or even find a way so that the wall can be on every page, so that you can keep track of it while surfing the cameras.

It looks kind of cool. I am not sure why people visit these web sites maybe the "big brother" effect? i dunno.. Looks ok and does the job.. how are you going to monetize this web site?

i like it .. and agree you need a better design .. keeping your ad placement in mind ... and create a few varieties for ab testing. the idea is cool and im sure you could build off of the idea and get some ugc type of stuff .. trow in some facebook connect and youve really got something

I would pull back on the variety of colors, keep it down to a simple range centered around 1 main color repeated in a few tones and then a secondary color for the links. It will be less distracting and you can focus on the topic. Simple does not have to be boring. Create a graphic which has something to do with the topic. The tree and sillouette doesn't add anything to the idea of cams. Why not a still from one of the cams?

I wouldn't worry about trying to make it too fancy. A site like that is pretty straight forward in terms of design requirements. Focus more on functionality and keep the design simple and basic. This type of site does not need super design or graphics.

I actually like the simplicity of the site. It is certainly very easy to use and the cameras all loaded really quickly for me. Not really the sort of thing that I would personally spend hours watching but I imagine that if something interesting happened on one of the cams then the viral buzz would be immense.

I loved the site! It's fascinating to see around the world! Here are some changes I would suggest if my client asked me to review. Not being harsh or critical- just some things that will help your site keep the traffic it gets.

Front Page Header Image: I would recommend using a couple of webcam like images in your first page header. While I like the rainbow and the tree- having something representative of what they might see will increase the number of people that will actually willing to click. Right now, you have this big eye catching image, which the average user will look at first so use that millisecond to your full advantage.

The second thing they will look at is the...

Click Here to Start button: definitely need an update! Here you are with an awesome site and concept and your button looks like it's from the 90's! That's like having a $1M house with a sheet as a front door. Maybe have the button say something more relevant like "Check my first cam" or "Start my world tour!" or.... I really looked at that and thought "He must not be done with that just yet. (same goes for "next Random Cam" button on cam page)

From a technical standpoint- there is something in the code that is causing the "next cam" button to move around from page to page. Not too big of a deal, but thought I would mention it. Also, if there is anyway to only reload the cam portion of the window instead of the whole page, you'd cut your load time and bandwidth considerably.

Stray Comments: Thought about letting people rate the webcams other than through FB? IDK if that is possible, but having a ranking system opens the door for you to be able to potentially sell memberships to those cams that are rated as great.


I see a lot of potential with the site as both an internet sensation and a way to generate money for you! I have bookmarked it and will check it out often! Great job!
