I finally hit $1500 + a month- Thank you warriors

I finally hit $1500 + a month and I am really excited about it. When I fist started, I had told myself that if I make $1500 a month, I would consider it a success. And I finally did it!

My blog is ranking 1-2-3 for 3 of the biggest keyword in niche and the (90% organic) traffic is bringing the money with it. I started this journey almost 2 years ago without knowing anything about how this all worked. And truly I have to say, if it wasn't for WF and all the helpful members here, I dont think I could have gotten here today.

This thread is not to brag, but I am hoping it will motivate others, as I know when I was beginning, these kinds of threads would push me for a few more weeks, then I would kind of give up, but then another success thread would get me going again.

Here are a few things I have learned that I think have played a major rule in my however small success:

1-You don't need to spend any money to make money.

Yes, buying tools and outsourcing will help you get there faster in some cases. But you dont need to shiny tools to make it. The only money I ever spent was for my domain name and hosting and one automation tool that I used once and never even looked at it again. If you are willing to work hard, you can find all the information and (free) tools you need to success on the internet.

Take warrior forum, I learned so many important things just from reading threads here and asking questions, that I know I could have easily paid hunderds of dollars if I were to pay for ebooks to learn them. This forum is a treasure chest!

2- Build as many backlinks as you can if you wanna rank.

If you wanna rank high, my personal experience shows its all about backlinks. Yeah content is good, especially after you rank and have traffic coming in. Good content will keep that traffic coming back for more. However, good content alone isn't going to get you there. Build backlinks as much as you can. Don't worry about dofollow, nofollow, low PR or high PR. Of course dofollow high PR backlinks are better, but every backlinks helps. Don't miss any opportunity to build backlinks.

It really wasn't easy to get the blog to rank for such a highly competitive keyword. I spent weeks submitting articles to article directories manually, commenting on blogs, submitting to web directories, link exchange, guest posting, forum posting and any other method you can think of. You just have to do it. Its a lot of work and lots of disappointment. But dont give up!

3- Pick one method and put 100% into it.

I used to jump from one method to another. I would read about one method on WF today and I would go crazy trying to do it. A few days latter, I would find another one and would do the same. Of course, I never got to anywhere.

Until I realized I should stick with one method. So I did!! I put all my focus and energy into my blog and trying to get it to rank for my keywords. It took me a year and half to get there. After I was set with the blog, I started to spend a bit time on the side to find other ways to make money (below).

So, pick one method and work until you succeed, then when you get there, you will have a bit less work to do whcih then you can use that extra time to diversify and work on other income opportunities.

4- Diversify your income streams.

My blog is my main money earner. But even there, I am using different methods to monetize it. Right now I am making around $500 a month with adsense, $500 a month with CPA offer (working with maxbounty), $400 or so a month selling ad space on my sidebar. The good thing is, earning from each one is growing every day.

Of course, my blog may fall of the wagon and lose its position. So, I started doing other things to make extra money as well. So, if one day that happens, I can have other income streams to help me get through. So, I started with offering services on Fiverr. And after a few months, now I am making around $300 or so a month from Fiverr and also clients that I have gotten from Fiverr.

I know there are lots of people out there, who think they can't do it. Believe me, I was there. You can get there. But, its not easy or quick (some case may be I guess). It takes a lot of hard work and commitment. Take action and you will get three!

Also, don't quit your day job! It will take some time to make enough money to sustain yourself. While I was doing all of that work, I had 2 full time day job working 16 hours a day and I still do! I still work 2 day time jobs and I have no intention of quitting them (I am a bit workaholic though). My points is you have to do what you have to do to pay your bills. Yeah we all want to work and make money online. But, it wont happen over night. It will happen eventually IF you take action and put whats required of you into it!

I hope this thread can give motivation to those who are lacking behind a bit. I will be more than happy to answer any questions if any one has any question.

Also, thank you to all warriors who have helped me and many others here to finally get here.

Let your Post inspire the IM newbies out there that it is doable. Sadly, some noobs have higher expectations as for the income and that's where they can fall behind.

The process is very gradual, like this old chinese proverb: "Money Grows on Trees of Patience".

Yes brian is right. YOu deserve all the credit and you got of your butt and put the hard work and long hours in.

I remember breaking the $1000 per month level. Then the $2000 then $3000 level then up to 8k. They come in stages so never give up. Here is cheers to your continued success.

Onwards and upwards as they say. See if you can upscale and outsource and then you will see some even bigger results.

Excellent post. Good advice. The WF can be a blessing or a burden. All the great advice does, as pointed out above, temp us to try something different every day or so as a new technique/strategy is revealed. But focusing is the key to success. Follow-through. Completing a task.

How many of us have dozens of half-baked projects that we lost interest in.

Pick one thing and see it through. Then another.

The diversify suggestion is also good. We shouldn't become vulnerable to any one search engine or any one ezine directory. Or even one affiliate partner (like Amazon, which is dropping affiliates in states that pose problems with collecting sales tax.) So plan out a strategy that is simple but which maximizes your diversity, just in case they pull the plug on you.

Congratulations on hitting the $1500+ per month mark. This is all the more impressive, seeing that you work two regular jobs putting in 16 hour days! I don't know when you find the time to do your IM, but this should serve to show the naysayers out there that you can succeed even when having two full-time jobs!

At the moment I am slightly guilty of focusing on one method, but once I am happy I have "mastered" it I will definitely be looking at a few different income models to give my business a little more stability.

Thanks for the info. And congrats on your success

The only thing I'll give a different opinion about, is the common "stick to only one method" approach. While that might work if you're extremely lucky and find a good method first time, in my experience, it takes a lot of learning before any method will work, because it's not the method itself that succeeds, so much as the overall experience and ability of whoever uses it.

The first method I tried, I spent $500, and made $1.5 in a year. I now realise that there was no way I was going to make a profit from that method, because I really didn't know enough.

Personally, I find that "synergy" helps greatly . . . treat each method you try as a learning experience (rather than believing what others say about profits), and you'll learn things each time, and eventually, all the different learnings, from different methods and approaches, will enable you to start succeeding.

    That's been my experience, anyway.

Quite encouraging. Yes, you are right, there are so many strategies that if you are not careful, you will always been swayed from here to there.

It's very interesting though, I think that's just the way it is, it has been told time and again that focus on one strategy and then move on to the next, but it just seems impossible. I guess thats the way to grow the marketing muscle, practice and error, not the best, but that's what it seems to be.

Either way, it's not that bad, because by the time come out through those errors, hey you will be an expect, the key is not to throw in the towel.

            Thank you for the support.

I always try to set smaller goals. Since achieving smaller goals is easier, they will always give you the motivation and the boost you need to push on. Bigger goals take longer time to achieve and most of us would kind of give up after a while. So, thats why I go for small goals to keep myself motivated.

I only have one blog and my niche is make money online. And the blog is basically about different ways of making money online (paid surveys, affiliate marketing, gpt, blogging, etc).

Thank you. Yeah, don't be in a harry to quite your job. Give yourself enough time to really get set with your online business, then do what you need to do.

Great point you make. All the mistakes and errors I made, did actually help me eventually in seeing the bigger picture. As they say, even when you think you lost, you have gained something.

Very encouraging. Thank you for taking the time to pass on your experiences and congratulations on your success. I agree the WF is a very useful tool for all IM's especially newbies as it is such a jungle out there when you are learning. I laughed when I read that you were going from one WSO to another and not sticking to one thing because that is exactly what I, and I'm sure many others, had done early on in my IM career!! Good post thanks for sharing

Matt, this is the real key to the OP's success. Despite working and being at (two) jobs for 16 hours daily, he has managed to make headway with his IM. In spite of this obstacle, which would have caused the majority of people to give up entirely, he's still made it to a point that many will never get to.

He didn't and doesn't have much time to devote to IM, so the little free time that he possesses is given to very focused action that has delivered results for him. In a way, this is sort of a blessing in disguise - he simply does not have the time to fool around and be distracted by all the bright and shiny objects in IM!

cool, congrats. thank for the info.

And I can also say that I agree. After years of struggling the magic bullet really are backlinks. When you first start, I'd say diversify but always have one niche as your main niche. My main niche would be in my signature. lol.

But I'm in a lot of other ones. My rules would be..

    BUY .COM/.NET/ORG DOMAINS ONLY.
    MAKE SURE THEY'RE KEYWORD SPECIFIC.
PUT UP SEO'D PAGE FOR THE DOMAIN
    BUILD BACKLINKS.
    SELL THE DOMAIN
    OR
    PROFIT FROM IT.

I've sold a couple domains for over $1k. Sometimes selling domains can be a bit of luck.

      Chris-
Perhaps you misunderstood what I said. I am not saying pick the first thing you find and stick with it for ever. I am saying, pick one thing that you knwo is working and simply work at it until you succeed. Meaning, put 100% into it, dont do it half ass accepting 100% results.

I myself had to go through many methods to find one that really was working for others and I knew I could do it.

Sticking with one method, doesn't mean stick with it for ever even if you are not succeeding. Simply means, dont pick it up for 2 weeks, then drop it an pick another one and so on.

Originally Posted by im1217 View Post

I really have no idea how many backlinks I made. And I dont think there is a specific number you should go for. I simply built as many backlinks as I could.

Yes, of course I still build backlinks. Just like any other niche (especially mine) you stop for a minuet, competitors will push you out of the way. So, building backlinks is something you should never put an end date on.

I always depend on the stories which have potential on search engines. I am following short term, long term and ever green stories on my blogs. They are going great. I do not buy the backlinks as they come naturally. I just have to push the posts through the right channels.

I am 100% sure that it is all about focusing on just one thing...

You know, you can't ride two horses at the same time!

It is really all about doing just one thing at the time.

Why the hell should you try something else if something didn't work, because if you try something else it will not going to work as well...

You just have to push it harder and more...

You have not to give up. It is the. Also you have to remember this:

"You don't have to get it right, you just need to get it going"

I repeat this quote every single day.

Once I started creating review sites, several failed and didn't make me any money at all.

But I kept doing that and that's how my first four figure pay day come...

Another site, which is Margo Tuul - Elite Blogging Review is going to make me four figures as well, because I kept pushing it and trying it. If you do this, magic things can happen...

Very good! I have a buddy that is looking to make that too, he just approached me a few days ago.

I wrote a post about how to increase your number and make that in a few days, but before I put the link to that post I'd like to add some things here.

First of all, I love that you said to "stick to it 100%"

Most new people never got that and I didn't get that. It's really bad when people jump around from program to program, suffering from the shiney object syndrome.

The reality is that a lot of the people creating these products know that people that are new are desperate for fast money and rightfully so, because they don't have any money!

So newbies NEED the money the most, but actually spend the most on these products.

Any newbie should start with your post and if they want to take it up a notch, they can read my post on that here:

    http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...400-today.html

I also wanted to mention that you said "diversify your income streams" that is a big big lesson because when a site like google or facebook make a change, some people lose their business because of it! Can you imagine the havoc they must be facing if they have ramped it up to twenty employees and now they all of a sudden don't have any income!?

Yes, please please please diversify, I'm in several niches and I wouldn't have it any other way!

      Hope to hear from you!
Thank you. Well, that philosophy has served me well not only regarding to the blog and the income from it, but in my life in general. It works much better for me since I tend to lose focus quickly. So, frequent boosts from achieving small goals keep me going.

Yes, it feels great to finally rank for make money online.

Thats true, its not the amount you make, its the fact that made it and after that you can simply scale it up and keep on moving forward.

Thanks. Yeah, I am not patient either, thats why I use my small goal strategy. As I said before, achieving small goals is easier, so it kind makes me feel like I have succeeded faster. So you can kind of get around not being patient thing a bit, lol. Good luck.

I can soooo relate to the problems of being unfocused. Not chasing the latest new (or old) idea seems like it is the hardest thing to do. I have just started to unsubscribe from alot of the product vendors whose list I'm on just to keep that from happening and not be tempted.

Never limit yourself by a goal. I set my goals ridiculously high because it encourages me to work harder to acheive them. If you set high goals for yourself you'll benefit from them even if you don't reach them.

Yeah, I thought about that. But, right now its not enough to pay my bills. So quitting my jobs now might not be such a good idea for my situation. For some people it may work, but not for me. Plus, I enjoy working long hours!

Well, now that I know the process and how it works, I am going to build another site and see how it goes.

From what I have learned, when you first start a blog, its best to post daily, so you can get some content on your blog. After a while you can go for a few posts a week. When you established yourself (your blog) then you can go for once a week or so. I have followed that pattern. However, whenever I have more free times to research and write new posts, I dont hesitate. Updating is always a plus.

Thanks for the tip. Thats a good wa of doing things. Fo me personally and I knwo fopr many warriors who are not very focused and can lose motivation quickly, big goals make it harder to stay motivated as they are hardeer to reach. So I would say set your big golas, but breack it down to a few smaller goals and try to achive them one by one. That way, just as you are aboyut to run out of steam, you will hit your small goal that will push you through the next goal and the next untile you achive your bigggest goal.

  • Very nice insight. Lots of work but $1500/m and three different sources are an excellent reward. And sometimes, if the the niche is still at the beginning and the demand high (= luck, since you don't always know this), writing good content is even already enough: the backlinkks will come by themselves from visitors spreading the voice about you. Your blog is full of good advices and the right keywords. It will only grow provided you write at least...I guess, one post per week probably?

Yes you are absolutely right. Good content brings lots of automatic backlinks.
To be honest, for the past few week I haven't been active much with writing posts. But, my goal is to write at least one fresh post a week, especially with the recent changes in Google and its ranking algorithm, fresh content seems to be even more valuable.
