That's The cut Ebay Takes or Paypal ; They Both I think. It's FREE to place it in Ebay. Get it? They will always take a cut.

There is a limit of 50 free listings per month, did you list more than 50?

Are you sure you were charged insertion fees and not just final value fees for the ones that sold? When you listed the items the insertion fee should have been shown at the bottom of the page next to the "List Item" button.

From time to time, eBay will offer a certain number of free basic listings. Add any goodies like extra photos, enhanced listings, etc. and you'll pay for those. In addition, you'll pay final value fees. If you use PayPal, they'll take their cut, too.

I thought Ebay was going with free listings and a fee only if the item sold in April?

I think the first 100 listings are free - unless you want those enhancements. Then you pay for the enhancements.

That's how they did it before Christmas, anyway. Haven't had anything worth listing lately.

Yes, but you need to a powerseller with Shop subscription ( Anchor Level which is £349.99 / month)

i only had 11 items on. got charged 15p insertion and 7p listing even when unsold. i've just relisted them and been charged the same again, yeah its not much but shouldnt be charged for them not selling.
and by the time they take their 10% off the final value and then the paypal charge, they are just getting too greedy.

it don't matter whether you sell or not, they will charge an insertion fee. i did some math with my ebay account and found out i paid more ebay fees than i made on ebay back in 09.

Here's what they say in the email they just sent me. Seems like every time I log in there the price of something has gone up.

What have you got to sell?
List up to 50 items FREE.
    Pay nothing unless you sell.
Plus, add Buy It Now FREE.

If you scroll to the end of the email or click "See details" it says -
List FREE: Up to 50 items per month. Additional optional Feature fees apply when used. 9% final value fee applied to the total amount of the sale—including the cost of the item, shipping, and any other fees a seller may charge (for example, engraving or gift wrapping), excluding any sales tax. Does not apply to eBay Store subscribers and Vehicle categories on eBay Motors.

I think there is a certain limit where you can list free on ebay rather than you have to pay.

eBay: 2011 Spring Seller Update - Fee update

April 19—List Auction-style FREE with FREE Buy It Now—up to 50 items per month with new Standard Fees.
    • Under the new Standard fees, list Auction-style FREE, any start price—up to 50 items a month. Pay only if your item sells. Plus you can add a Buy It Now price to your 50 items FREE—set the price you want and grab buyers ready to act now.
    • The Standard Final Value Fee rate for Auction-style listings will stay at 9% and be applied to the total amount of the sale—including shipping—with a maximum Final Value Fee of $100.
    • Auction-style fees for Store subscribers will NOT change in April: If you sell more than 50 items Auction-style per month, an eBay Store subscription will most likely give you the lowest overall fees. If you don’t have an eBay Store, consider opening one now.
As always, eBay Standard fees are the right choice if you sell occasionally or sell to earn extra cash. If you sell more than 50 items a month, you’ll benefit from the overall discounted rates that come with an eBay Store subscription.
