Best URL for Branding?

Fellow Warriors,

I am creating a social marketing web site. I own the following domains:

ACity = the city name (i.e. Dallas)

ACityFacebook.com
ACityFacebookExperts.com
ACityInternetMarketing.com
ACitySocialMarketing.com

My personal favorite is ACityInternetMarketing.com. However, I am wondering if potential clients will see "Internet Marketing" in the URL... See, "Social Marketing" everywhere else.... And think... What the heck is this? Internet Marketing? Social Marketing? Do they even know what that are selling?

Which domain name would you use? I would appreciate any additional thoughts as well.

Thanks,

Rich

None of them. The facebook domains will get you sued and the other ones are too long and generic.

      Ron,

Good to see you! I appreciate and respect your thoughts.

I know many people are uncomfortable with using domains with trademarks such as Facebook. My personal thought is Facebook would be foolish to sue thousands or tens of thousands of people who are promoting their business. These are not people squatting on their brand or attempting to confuse people. Biting the hand that feeds you is a bad thing. I am not writing they won't sue. They certainly could. It would not be best in the long run.

      Thanks,

      Rich

Rich, I get where you're coming from. But take it from someone who has dealt with trademark issues and other lawsuits before - just don't do it.

You'd be using their name to promote your local social network. They won't think of it as promoting their business.

It's just not worth the "what if" if you know what I mean.

          Ron,

I hear you, my friend. I was looking at setting this up strictly to provide Facebook related services; this would not be a local social networking site.

I have certainly seen companies that make a nice chunk of their revenue from suing others. I will stay away from any potential issues.

          Thanks,

          Rich

Why not start your own network from scratch instead of using facebook as a "middleman" Something along the lines such as 'DallasPlaces, SocialDallas'.com

      Vulk,

You bring up a very good point. I could essentially create a niche social networking site. I have seen several of these spring up recently. I would only need a few thousand users to start. The users create content and make your site worth more. It may not bring in $700,000 a month; but it is definitely something with potential.

      Thanks for your suggestion!

      All the Best,

      Rich
