How can I build a list for a product coming out next year?

I currently own a blog that's getting an average of 50 unique visitors per day. The blog shows news and updates about an electronic product (let's say a television) that will come out next year.

I'm trying to build a list but I'm having trouble. All I can offer for those that sign up is news about the product.

How can I convince people to sign up for my newsletter?

    What is the niche of your upcoming product niche?

    I recommend you to:

    Get some PLR article or MRR report related to your product or niche. Or try to produce a report yourself.

    Offer this ebook as a free gift to your readers.

    Try to bring in traffic emphasizing the free offer you've there (so that your opt-in conversion would be higher than your normal traffic conversion)

    Slowly you can build a list and by the time you release your product you'd be having a great list closely related to your niche.

    Are there existing products similar to the one you'll be promoting? I'm assuming this new product doesn't exist in a bubble. Are there ancillary items in this product's universe? Become a news source for "all things" within this micro niche.

    You can run one of those countdown scripts as well and add your opt-in just below it with a "Be the first to know" type of call to action.

    It will be difficult to build a list for a physical product if you are not the original manufacturer. However, you can sign up people enticing them with coupon codes or other special offers if you can get your hands on it earlier than most people

    You can also try and get a discount coupon for the product.

    Not sure if you are using wordpress for your site or not, but I doubled my opt-in on a few sites using pop-up domination - Popup Domination - Get More Subscribers & Make More Money In 2011! (not my affiliate link). If not you can probably get something coded fairly cheaply.

    Another alternative is to setup a Facebook fan page for the upcoming product launch. Use iFrames and build a landing page to collect emails with some type of call to action.

    Learn how to use Facebook friend adder to build a following to your page so when the product is released people will be talking about it.
