The "Magic" Make your Site "Unique" Snakes-Oil

There are several plugins around claiming to make your WP blog "unique", by using a few lines of kindergarden-level Javascript, eg. converting all articles into Javascript charcode and then let wordpress output the articles from the javascript instead of plain text.

What irks me is that the authors (yes, there are several plugins using about the same method) claim "it makes your blog unique" and makes them pass copyscape.

It is indeed true that sites using those plugins pass CopyScape - but this is rather an indication that CopyScape uses an ultra-primitive way of checking for "duplicate" content - indeed their code would need a SERIOUS overhaul if they cannot even read javascript and think an article is "unique" just due to the fact how the content is output.

The fact is:

The claim "passes 100% copyscape" is worthless since it IMPLIES that articles would indeed seen by search engines as "unique"...this is not the case, so any advertising to make a site "unique" comes very close to selling snakeoil.

On the other end, in the browser, the content is displayed "as usual", and Google can read Javascript w/o problems.

I did various tests using that plugin on more "intelligent" sites than copyscape, and as expected those sites articles fail 100% doing any duplicate testing.

it is indeed a not easy task to make articles "unique" w/o using cloaking and similar "bad" methods.
I did actually write a little test program which scrambled text and put it into HTML DIVs/TABs...so the search engine read in "puzzle pieces" and dont "see" the article as a whole - while for the human the article looks normal since a human doesnt "read" like a search engine does.

This method (which i considered pretty intelligent) also only yielded in a 85% NOT UNIQUE (as opposed to 100% NOT unique)...proving that it is NOT easy to fool google.

I am just angry that people sell such scripts and imply things which are not the case, and people buy them and believe it only takes two lines of javascript to make any duplicate content "unique".
