What do you think of these graphics?

Howdy warriors,

I got some mini-site graphics back a few days ago for one of my sales letters. They look good BUT I'm not 100% sure they're appropriate for this info product.

You can check them out here:

Strike It Niche On Myspace!

Do you think it should be a man instead of a women on the main graphics?

What other impressions do you get?

BTW- The sales letter is missing a few elements such as a video intro and testimonials. I'm still working on these. I'm just interested in what everyone thinks about the graphics.

    Hi Zachary,

please bear in mind that my opinions are not objective as I am a graphic artist...

I don't like to critique other people's work but from a professional point of view - and please don't take offence, you'd be better off not using the header at all in my opinion, it looks amateur. The cover graphics are passable, and the composition is good.

Overall the graphics, being pixellated make the page look unprofessional.

    Kindest regards,
    Karl.

I completely agree...wouldn't stay even if I was interested in this niche.

Graphics are very important and should be top quality. IMO

Not bad, but the header graphics are little blurry for me. They just needs sharpened up a bit.

The covers look good. The buy button does too. It's just the header that needs some work.

Agree about the header.. pixelated and blury. As that you are selling to Internet Marketers it may not matter so much to us, but the product will definately matter in a big way. After all, that is what we are spending the money on.

Here is a thought. Instead of the theme you are using now why not use a myspace look and feel. You are targeting myspace marketers, so why not show you and your product are all about myspace. Make it standout from the crowd of other salespages. No offense, but your salespage format is just another salespage format we all see all the time. You can always split test.

I also agree that the header is pixelated and it detracts from the rest of the page which looks very professional. Also, there seems to be a lot to look at on the header graphic which distracts the reader away from the headline.

The header (especially the image of the woman) looks very blurry to me.

  • Hey guys,

I appreciate the feedback. It looks like I need to replace the graphics altogether, which is kind of what suspected. It's kind of a bummer but I'm sure it will be worth the investment. I really don't think I should have accepted these in the first place.

Zach, its all relevant to what you have paid, if you only limit yourself to $50 (I hope thats all you paid) then you cant reject work that looks like its cost $50.

You could get an excellent design for $197 (If you want one, PM me) then you might finally get some graphics you can big up ;o)

      Thanks

On the positive side, your designer offers a 100% money back guarantee.

If you compare what they've produced for you with what they have in their
portfolio, I'd say there wasn't much effort put into yours.

I'd ask them for a redesign - despite the fact they are offering their services
cheap, it is no excuse for sub-standard work. If they refuse, take them up
on their 100% money back guarantee.

      Kindest regards,
      Karl.

OH, and take Darren up on his offer... I could do with keeping him busy for

            >>What other impressions do you get?

Speaking as a Brit that pronounces niche as 'neesh' and not 'nitch' I felt the heading didn't make sense until I realised what you were trying to do with the wording.

However, that might not matter too much with 300 million Americans to target.

I think you may have made a mistake when uploading them graphics.

Try keep them in the origional size so they dont pixelate.

But the dvd covers are pretty cool.

I don't understand why anyone would purchase graphics from
a site with a portfolio like that.

There's loads of top designers on the Warrior Forum who could
blitz those 1800homepage designs into the dark ages.

        1) The Genie
        2) The Ninja
        3) Me :-)

I've had quite a few people come to me asking to have their sites
re-designed after having them previously designed by 1800homepage.

No offense to who ever is behind 1800homepage though, it's personal
        opinion.

Anyway, that's enough promotion for Darren Kaye today, I'm scared his

To save time...if you can just open your page in notepad to change it...change these elements in your code...

              At the top find:
              <table border="0" width="65%"
              Change to
              <table border="0" width="700"

              Then here:
              <img border="0" src="images/header.jpg" width="834" height="201">
              Change to:
              <img border="0" src="images/header.jpg" width="700" height="150">

Then close to the bottom of the code find:
              <img border="0" src="images/footer.jpg" width="809" height="39">
              Change to:
              <img border="0" src="images/footer.jpg" width="700" height="25">

                  Hi Zach,

Since your original post spoke about graphics and layout, I'm not going to comment on anything else but that.

                  Suggestions:

As Eshera has pointed out, the reason for the pixelation is you are using a smaller image and your web code instructs it to make it bigger.
                  The image is 700px Ã-- 150px (scaled to 834px Ã-- 201px by the code).

You have 2 options: redo the image so the size is 834px Ã-- 201px (do on photoshop or similar) then reload OR remove the width and height constraints within your image tag.

Keep in mind, when you remove the width and height constraints, your header image will become narrower than the width of you body text (the main body white space or width of your sales page) This is not desirable in my opinion. The footer image is like this. You'll see white space around the left, right and bottom sides of the footer image. IF you like this, then fine. I think it looks cleaner to have the image justified to the width of the main body. ie no spaces.

Ideally, you want to get a new header image (and for that matter a new footer image)
There is no cohesion with the header image elements and it looks like they have been slapped together with no consideration to form or structure.

Also, while you may know what "Strike It Niche" means, your first time viewers may not instantly. I would respectfully suggest making the 'actual thing you do' the main heading and use "Strike It Niche" as a sub heading. Eg Main header may be "Profit Pulling Lists From Myspace"

A classic self-employed business mentality is to put your business name at the top of your advertisment. eg 'RICK'S PLUMBING' - Nobody cares about Rick or his plumbing except Rick and maybe his mum! (Apologies if there is an actual Rick's Plumbing, I have no direct knowledge of a business by this name. If there is... You're alright Rick )

Instead, 24 HOUR HOT WATER REPAIRS, might be a better qualifier at the top of the advert. (There you go Rick, Free marketing tip)

So, if you're going to put slogans and headlines in your image banner, I suggest you keep this in mind and also the fact that if it is important keyword text, search engines can NOT read text within an image. Obvious, I know, but often overlooked.

Another quick suggestion: Increase the (white) left margin in the sales letter a little. Personal choice, but may increase readability.

I think you have all fallen into one of Zachary's traps, and now you cannot escape. You have all become part of one of his weird experiments where he creates mutant graphics and then parades them in public to check out much they gross everyone out. I only hope I can escape this thread, I feel him closing in on me even now.

  • So lets sum up here to make sure I've got everything:

    1) These graphics are no good 1800 homepage sucks
    2) I made the resolution bad by resizing the image (although it looks fine on my screen resolution)
    3) My minisite looks just like everyone else's and is totally worthless
    4) I should probably change the name as it may be confusing to others
    5) I'm a diabolical marketer....I think take this as a compliment
    6) I should hire ecover ninja or graphics genie to make new minisite graphics

I actually agree with all of this and it looks like I have a lot of work to do.

I'm elated that I showed this here before showing to it actual prospects.

I love this place....I always know I can count on brutal honesty that might make me cry. I have to admit, I got a little teary eyed reading some of those comments

PS- The only thing I find interesting is that this minisite looks like every other minisite. While this is certainly true, even deliberate, I'm fairly certain that I've purchased from minisites like this one before many times in the past. Therefore I'm inclined to believe they are at least marginally effective.

      Zach,

You're a nice guy, you have some neat ideas, and you take action.

      I respect you for that.

Brutal honesty is great, and is very rarely a slur on one's character. Think of it as friends who want to help you.

I think it's a little unfair of some to bash another Warrior's work, but that's commerce...I won't get involved in that, because I'm no designer.

I AM, however, a customer of Darren (GraphicsGenie), and - I'd like to think - a buddy-of-sorts with Karl, and they both produce top quality designs at loss-leader prices.

...and both, as far as I can tell, are bloody geniuses.

A more than honourable mention also goes to Sam Kern (a.k.a Freotech), who also has the ability to perform minor miracles...major ones when you actually tell him your design spec!

IMHO, words sell, but graphics - when done well - can be a deal-clincher.

Good luck dude, onward and upward!
