I officially quit my job today

Well folks, the day is here.

I quit my job.

YAHOO!!!!

I'm not quite done my physiotherapy program from my injury yet, I have 4 weeks left, and after that I have 4-6 weeks of "work hardening" with my physiotherapy program, but today is the day that I officially quit the job that I was injured at.

I do not plan on getting another job. I'm going to clear $2000 this month online, and no it's not enough to live on, I also have money coming in from a rental property, so I think I should be able to make it through another couple months before the big money starts rolling in!

Thanks to everyone on the WF who has helped me out!

Depends entirely on the situation. $2000 is plenty for some, and not nearly enough for others.

I hear you loud and clear... I had a stroke in 2006 and that was it for good as far as my day job, I turned to the net full time after going through almost 1 year of physiotherapy and ergotherapy, and although as of this writing, the economy is not on our side, I still manage a 5 digit monthly paycheck but on the low end of course.

I am prepared to go down to 4 digits. I wouldn't quit even if I made nothing at all. I'm simply in Love with IM and now with the social media phenomenon, I'm having the greatest time of my career!

I am happy for you, Keep up the great work and pack in more knowledge buddy you'll get there too!

Congrats! That is very inspiring and I'm sure very scary! I am trying to get my husband to quit his second job. I am trying to tell him that if he does it will give me the push to definitely make my work at home business succeed! And it will give me the extra time to make it work. Running around after a 14 month old doesn't leave a lot of uninterrupted time! He is so awesome though! He sent me to the library to work for a few uninterrupted hours!

One thing is certain in life:
You can never go wrong if you stay
    focused, determined, persevere and
    consistently take action in whatever
noble venture you step your hands on.

Congrats. $2,000 is not a lot of money
to some but a fortune to others. But what
is important is set a goal or business plan
    and follow through religiously.

Thank you everyone for the kind words and encouragement!!

To be honest, I'm not quitting the job because I'm making so much I feel comfortable throwing my steady income out the window... I'm quitting because I was injured with a herniated disc in my back last august, and then when on a return to work program I almost died when a 200lb air diffuser fell on my head out of the ceiling!

Want to read about the injury and see gorey pics?

There's just no way I can go back to working at a job like that. Not to mention it was 12 hour heavy manual labor work, something I just absolutely hate doing.

I'm taking the leap, and possibly the plunge that follows most leaps, but I will emerge on the other side much happier and more experienced than ever before!

Seriously thank you all for the support, encouragement, advice, and kind words. You guys rock. For those of you who wish you were quitting your jobs today, just know that if you do what needs to be done today, you'll be quitting your job tomorrow.

Gosh I've just been reading about your injuries in your blog how horrific,

I'm not a big believer in the compensation culture we seem to live in nowadays but I sure hope you are going to be compensated for what happened to you.

I have to say having such a serious back injury at the age of 24 is absolutely shocking and should never have happened if the company were looking after their employees correctly

Yeah, there's a lot of people who believe I should be able to sue the company or get a settlement of some sort for the injuries, but I cannot.

I may get some money for the giant scar on my head, but I cannot apply for that until the scar has aged 2 years (incase it disappears or something?).

As far as I know, my compensation/settlement is simply getting out of a job that was not right for me and the opportunity to focus on what I truly love to do... Internetting.

Thank you all for the well wishes, it's truly encouraging to see all of this support from our community.

Here's to turning my $2000/month into $4000/month in May.

This is wonderful dude. I can remember the day I finally said good bye to a real job back in 1998.

But I have entered BACK into the work place, TEMPORARILY, for the benefit of my students and to show how easy it is for them to work a full-time job and still do there IM part-time until they can quit. This won't take me long but it's to show the students that it is possible.

Besides, sense I've been a business person myself for the last 15 years, I've made friends with a lot of business owners locally here. So I'm actually working at a local answering service which is owned by a friend and he knows this is temporary and knows my reasons behind doing it. Probably couldn't do that with any other job unless I not disclose to them what my intentions are and the reason I'm working.

Well this started as a simple congrats and as usual I got side tracked. Story of my life, I have more side tracks than a central train station.

Congrats! Go for it. If I may offer a quote, one that may fortify you in any moments of panic you might, wondering "What the heck am I doing!":

"The moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves as well. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen accidents, meetings and material assistance that no one could have dreamed would come their way. Whatever you can do or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin it now."

My wife's last day was today. We celebrated. She'd been there six years and she quit to stay home and help me with my business.

I quit my job about a year ago. I started connecting with higher and higher paying clients and soon I didn't need my paycheck anymore. So I quit. I've been a stay-at-home writer ever since.

But, I needed a business manager since things were getting too busy, and now we have two people instead of one. Pretty exciting.

I just hope we don't kill each other in the process.

Good luck, man! It can get stressful sometimes, but I wouldn't dream of going back for anything. And with so many ways to get paid online, there's no real reason to go back. Unless you want to make someone else rich for the rest of your life. No thanks.

That is FANTASTIC! I am with you brother… I quit mine in Feb and love it!

Your right, the help on this forum is great and benefits us all. Best of luck to you and I'll bet you $1 that you are up to $10k per month by the end of the year.

Sounds like you are well on your way but let me know if I can help in any way.

I understand how it is, quitting your job can be scaring but when your not happy at what you do sometimes it's worth it, to start something new. I wish you good luck in your success.

    Thank you,

Congrats ExploringInfinity. It looks like I will be able to quit my job around Thanksgiving of this year.

In fact, I'm looking for one of those indoor infrared turkey fryers for my Thanksgiving party this year. They're the kind that won't burn your house down, ha ha.

Congrats my friend and good luck.

When I quit my job after a while I found myself getting lazy and not putting in the hours, it's important to set goals and keep some time management. A to do list every day will help a lot.

You probably know all this anyway but it's easy to get side tracked when you are just working on your own.

All the best, sounds like you have the focus anyway.

Congrats! It's an elusive dream for many of us. I am turning green with envy right now.

$2000 a month is a very good place to let go. You've shown you can do it and you need to stay motivated and moving to get to the life style you're after.

    Good Luck and Good Fortune

I'm out of a job right now, but i hope that i don't ever feel the need to get a job.

I know a lot of people here (or some people) make full time income on the net, i just hope i can be at that level very soon.

    Congrats
