How effective is facebook comment social plugin?

I have been thinking to replace wordpress commenting with facebook commenting to increase viral effect of facebook. It seems everyone has facebook account these days.

Will it be better just to turn off the wordpress commenting and replace with facebook commenting? Or Keep both on? I saw on some pages, they have facebook commenting on top then wordpress commenting underneath? First or later is better in your experience?

Obviously both have their advantages and disadvantages. The advantage of the Facebook comment system is it's viral nature however you need to remember that although very popular, there are still a lot of people who do not have Facebook accounts.

The disadvantage of the Facebook comments system is that none of the comments are actually added to your page so the search engines will NOT pick up and index those comments as content on your page.

If you want to offer Facebook comments then I would probably also be inclined to offer both options. Having said that it really depends on your audience demographics. If the typical visitor to my website was a 65 year old male then I probabaly would not use the Facebook comment system as only a small percentage of that audience would have Facebook accounts.

If I was targeting a young teenage demographic then I would probabaly use just the Facebook comments system.

Yes, that's definitely make sense. That's for the input.

I just noticed, optimizepress theme has built it FB comment and WP comment, never realize it before.
