Budding wine marketer with some concerns

I'm just getting into affiliate marketing and I'm determined to market wine; it's my passion, it is a market that I can easily be competitive in, I've found several promising keywords, and it is something I could develop regular content about without going insane. I'm not looking to get rich quick, but I would like to be able to turn marketing into a full-time income over the next few years. I've already found several wine clubs that look promising, and I'm researching them now to see if they are something I feel comfortable promoting. Magazines also look promising for a little extra income. Once I get a good list together, maybe I could even find some travel-related affiliate programs.

Under the advice of some of my friends that have already gotten into marketing, I checked Clickbank. At first I was disappointed. I didn't really see anything that thrilled me. Then it dawned on me that maybe that just means I need to create the sort of products that would thrill me. I would prefer to do video ecourses to writing ebooks, but the problem is my appearance. I look much, much younger than I am. I'm worried that a guy that still gets carded might not come off as an expert on video. There is a little David Ogilvy on my shoulder telling me that "content is king" and I should just do the videos without worrying about that, but there is another part of me that thinks I should either stick to writing the ebook or hire someone else to do the videos. What do you guys think? Is the inner critic something to be largely ignored, or an important guiding light?

Also, do you know of any products that you would personally suggest? If so, I'd like you to email me a link. I'm new to the affiliate thing, but I understand that some programs have second tier earnings, and I wouldn't want you to miss out on that.

You shouldn't be afraid of video. Even if you look like you're ten. Make it funny and hold your ID to the camera to prove it. Add real character and humor to it. Make it appealing to watch. Captivate your viewer. You could always drink wine in front of the viewer. I wouldn't advise getting wasted, but you get the point.

Side note: The majority of people aren't as judgmental when watching video online as they are in person.

Plus if you are planning on selling wine products go for real wine not wine information. You can be a wine affiliate. they are just tougher to come by online. And make sure you look up state alcohol laws.
I don't know many people who are gonna want to read about how the wine hits their palette or how it tingles their taste buds. Most just want a few reviews, a "professionals opinion(yours) and a buy button.

An E-book is a great idea, but offer that as a bonus to buying a physical product.
Maybe even make a wine blog and use adsence.

Clickbank sucks, unless you only want to sell intangible products. Try ShareASale it's a much less competitive network with a variety of products.

My How to make wine product on clickbank has been doing quite well for the last 4 or 5 years.

And if you know your stuff - I don't care if you are a 16 year old kid :-)

There seems to be lots of younger people in the wine space today so as long as you come off as a professional I doubt anyone will think twice about it.

I say get that product creation going!

You seem to be getting ahead of yourself a bit.

The key to a successful marketing venture is when people know that you exist. When people know you exist you then work on building trust with those people. It is a common mistake to try and attract groups of people by the hundreds and simply just assume that they will buy your product because they know about you.

When you treat every potential customer well it drastically improves results.

If you are determined to release a product PM me. I develop my own products every day by simply writing a little every day, maybe recording a video, etc. This way I have products always in development. I would be more than happy in helping you develop your product if you feel you could use the help.

Just on a final note, I'd just like to mention that I am releasing the first phase of a project I am working on which will be available in the WSO forum on May 5th. Support would be appreciated.

Again, if you would like my support on your project just PM me. Mutual support is always beneficial.

    Cheers,
