Ridiculous!

I just wanted to download a PDF which i was able to get many months ago for free from docstoc.

If i log-in now it asks me to register and pay monthly to download PUBLIC DOMAIN stuff?

    Well George, I'd never heard of the site until I read your post. I must have been under a rock all of this time, as it seems very popular.

    Surely though, if what they offer is in the public domain, you could find it elsewhere? I don't know, just my initial thoughts.
