Are Sniper Sites Better than Authority Sites?

So I'm thinking about starting a new authority site based on product keywords. The difference in my strategy is I'm using these keywords to build a list rather than try to sell the product. (for one the commissions would not be that great). I'm debating whether I should build multiple sites for each product or just create an authority site that lists all of the products and reviews for them. The call to action would then be to get them on my list. Id much rather work smarter than harder so please let me know what you guys think
