Uploading files to godaddy

Hey everbody, I just got a site on here and am using go-daddy for hosting. They were going to set it up for me but couldnt because they were not familiar with thier interface. I have finally uploaded the filles one by one (because I used thier java ftp client) and now dont have the slightest idea where to put them. When I search my site only the ebook page comes up. All the files are there I just dont know anything about directories. They suggest I set it up with hostgator for the C-Panel. Problem is ive already got hosting and domain with go-daddy. If anyone can help or point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance

They were right: you should have ONLY domain registered with GD and hosted it somewhere else.

It is very unhealthy to have the same company as your registrar and your host in the same time. Swallow the loss and get a normal hosting

  • a) How do they not know how to use their own interface?
    b) Istvan is telling you correctly. You should never register a domain and host it with the same company. That's a big no-no.
    c) I would ask for a refund of your hosting fees from Godaddy and look elsewhere.

Sounds like this is already a lot harder than what it should have been.

Hosting on GoDaddy is a bit slow.

I recommend using a FTP program like FileZilla (totally free)

I made a screen cast showing how easy it is a while back:

Thankyou everyone so much for the kind advice. I will go to hostgator and just keep godaddy for domains and use fillzilla for transfer.

The one thing I experienced with similar difficulties is that you have to have the index file in the main folder. Because this is what is searched for when trying to retrieve your website for display.
