Does anyone believe that someone else, for a fee, will do all the work for you and create your business?

The implication is that there is no work, you don't have to know much... you cut a check and lay on the beach enjoying automatic deposits to your bank account.

    That depends on how well you know the person. If it is a friend, then possible. If not, then nobody will believe that.

      So basically, if you find an investor you'll run the business.

      @OP that's common enough in regular business practices, but as an investor, I'd have to have a lot of confidence in the person I'm investing in as:

      a) a competent business person
      b) an honest, ethical business person

      ...

      And even then, I couldn't see myself dropping money and sitting on the sidelines. I like to jump in and get elbow deep in it.

        I am not sure what you mean. More like someone who wants to build a business and I help them with their start up by putting all the pieces in place for upfront fee and equity. Hybrid consultant/project manager.

          If you follow that line of logic, sounds like they're paying you to create it.. run it.. and well do everything. Thus, they're being more of an 'investor/owner' who is taking on the risk and financing you to start up a business that will make money for them.

          If that's the case, there's more than 'consulting and project management' involved. (especially initially)

    You better trust them like the best friend you've ever had! That's a huge risk to take. I had a friend who along with his wife owned a McDonald's franchise. He was not making much money at first because he didn't understand the business and he hired the wrong manager. Once he'd immersed himself in learning about the fundamentals of customer service and product quality, and most importantly once he fired the first manager and hired a competent one, they started killing it.

    Generally speaking (uhm, writing), no. My current outsource team that I have took me over a year to put together, took a lot of interviewing, testing, and even then they all had a 30 to 90 day probation period to prove to me that they can do the work. I have a QC manager now whose only job to audit our virtual staff to make sure our quality standards are being met.

    No one else will create your business with the passion that you will.

    If I paid someone to set up a business, I would atleast have to monitor what was going on. That way, you avoid someone getting greedy or taking advantage of you.
