Where do you guys get your material?

I've been reading around a bit, as i'm still doing. Where do you guys find the material to market? I think this is one of the main segments of the business that confuses me.

I've seen of course, people making e-books about making money and other pathways to making money online..But it seems that market is saturated.

What else can you market and how do you find the product? By saying, "What else can you market?", Of course I realize anything can be marketed and utilized to make money....But how can I find that product..

The basic premise to marketing is identifying (hungry) buyers and then supplying them a solution or answer to their problem(s). That exists ANYWHERE outside of IM. The trick is to finding these people, getting a product created, and then marketing it to them either passively where they come to YOU and buy it, or, aggressively go after them by partnering with someone in that niche and offering a higher percentage payout for access to their list.

It truly is an open ended environment..you just need to look in areas where people are asking about problems and need a solution badly. Once that's identified, getting a good product created is the next step. And that is easily done in my opinion

Look around at Amazon, CJ, Linkshare, etc. Affiliate products are the easiest to sell, with almost no investment.

I second myob's suggestion. Find an affiliate product to promote at first. Choose a niche (one where money is already being spent in.) Find an affiliate product that would be of interest to that niche.

You are better off choosing a niche that you have some interest in because you will need to do some writing to promote your products - blog, articles, web content, etc.

Depending on what niche you choose:

Clickbank - tons of digital products to promote
        Linkshare - digital and physical
        Share a Sale - same

Or you can go to Google, type in the search box "niche + affiliate program" so for example "golf shirts + affiliate program."

    Hi Jman

Basically, you can sell both physical and digital products (ebooks, video courses, audios etc) as an affiliate (it means you market other people's products and get a share if someone buys through your link) or you can sell your own products if you have them.

You can find products to promote in many places. For digital products, you can check Clickbank, Rapbank & Payspree (there are others). One popular way to market physical products is to sign up to become an Amazon affiliate (associate) and as you probably know, Amazon sells almost anything. Other places you can find stuff to promote are Commission Junction and Shareasale.

If you are interested in some particular brand or product, search for a website for the brand/product and check whether they have an affiliate program or not.

You're right about IM being pretty saturated, but there are plenty of other options for finding good niches! :-)

    Best,

    Satu

I agree with myob, those are some of the best places to look, and we have had good success with helping people set up affiliate sites with products we found there for them

This is really good information. I think I will start with an affiliate marketing approach. I need to start bringing in some kind of money, even if it's only 10$ a day. I don't care. I feel that if I can get started, I can really excel. It's just the principle of getting started right now.

It's definitely hard to put a lot into anything not knowing the returns. I'm extremely interested in the making money online idea. So I guess my first step now, is to locate the product I am going to market. From there, I can setup my website and start promoting. Hopefully I can get some kind of return fairly quickly to keep me motivated!

I definitely appreciate the suggestions and advice. Any more that you can give me would be taken to heart and deeply thought about. Thanks guys!

If there are products in a niche, and people are buying those products, it's a niche you can make money in.

When starting out in IM, it's easy to find yourself jumping from one thing to another to another. (As I know from personal experience.) So try to find a blueprint (put together by someone reputable and experienced) that shows you, step-by-step, how to do it. You'll learn a lot by following the steps and actually "doing."

You can also find some material at some PLR sites. Or you can study on some marketing concepts and implement some of your own strategies into guidebooks.

PLR (or Private Label Rights) is content you can buy and use in your IM projects when you don't necessarily want to write it yourself. So you can use PLR article to build a blog or website, use a PLR report to build a mailing list, etc.

That makes perfect sense. I do have a friend who does this as well and is pretty successful. He's helped out a bit and taught me about building a targeted mailing list to promote my products. I'm going to look into the PLR stuff. Ultimately, my goal is to be able to write my own stuff to maximize my profits of course.

I'm really excited about it and so far I am loving this forum. There is still a lot that I have to learn to become a veteran user here, but I look forward to that. Does anyone have any success stories to share? I want to make sure I keep myself motivated and sometimes that can be difficult to do until I start seeing some revenue.

In addition to all the good ideas above you can also look at google trends or yahoo buzz to see certain areas that may become popular. Also think in terms of seasons too as you can create a product or find affiliate products for something with less competition that way. Looking at forums is a good way to see the questions within a niche.

If you are going the PLR route remember that it's vital you change it up a bit - certainly the title and at least some of the graphics as well so that your potential customers see a *brand new shiny* product.

Be creative and think of combining several articles into an ebook or report or, conversely, breaking up an ebook/report into articles and blog posts to promote your main product. You can also take one source of PLR and turn it into several forms of product, for example recording an ebook so you have an mp3 to offer and then extending that into a video format as well. This adds a great deal of perceived value and your customers will love it as people have their own preferences as to how they like to use material, some favouring reading, others listening and so on.

That's a good idea. I think i'm going to look around for some PLR content and do more research on it. My girlfriend is going to join me in this venture and she is wanting to market sex toys or something similar, so i'm going to try to get a website up for her and help her find a product and teach her how to market it.

I gonna let you in on a secret. Try wholesale brokering. The money is in the hundreds of thousands and once you identify sellers and buyers-bam-your're gold. You find the sellers of material by looking up through certain directories and then you match them up with qualified buyers. There are many millions flowing through stay at home entrepreneurs!

If you want to get solid -- figure out what you love more than anything else then choose your affiliate products in that field - doesn't have to be IM. You can start with affiliate products. But as you build your business, just any old niche isn't going to do anything much for you. This is a lot of work - and you have to do what you love or it will be more of a pain in the butt than a job.

Once you get affiliate products in a field (niche) that excites you and that you know something about, then your expertise will start to shine through - and then you can start using your own knoweldge to build products instead of just regurgitating everyone else's stuff. If you really know a subject well, you will have a lot of your material for your own product right in your head and will only have to research bits and pieces.

    Jman,

As you have probably already discovered, there is a wealth of useful information on this forum and there are many people that can offer you great advice. The problem is that if you are not careful you can listen to too much of it. This information overload can really paralyse your business objectives. So whilst most of the advice in the forum is invaluable, my advice would be to draw up a plan (whether it be to create your own product/service) or promote others (as an affiliate), work out your methods to drive traffic to that offer and then work at it every day without distraction.

    Paul.
