Newbie, tips on where to start

Hi, I have my own small business and have used bluevoda in the past and now i Web to build my site. Learned yesterday that what I have is crap and why I can't seem to get higher than page 5 on google. So the plan is learn wordpress.

So the real question is where to start. I heard that Paul Prissick has a great seo recipe, should I get that and stick to it for a while? What is the next step?

Also, my business revolves around me having very high quality pictures. How can I have these and still have my page load fast? I'm already lowering the quality to "medium 5" on photoshop.

Thanks!

I think you should learn about wordpress, and find nice wordpress themes you can use related to your niche, so that you make nice looking websites, seo friendly, without having to know much about web design. Web Design is an art for itself, and i leave that for the people who really know their stuff, i tried to learn it but it wasn't for me.

  • Dedicated server will do the trick for you but it's expensive. On the other hand you can show of your quality pics in the definition you want.

I would come here and read stuff, all the stuff you can get your hands on. There is some great info here.

Then go away and spend a week implementing what you have learnt. I owe a lot to the warrior forum. Quit my job back years ago cause of this place, The stuff in here is priceless.

I am a breeder & exhibitor of Chihuahuas, so our house is always full of tiny pups with HUGE personalities. It is my website for our kennel that I'm working on improving.
I'd post a link but I'm not allowed since I don't have 15 posts yet, but it's in my profile.

I believe that you should look further than just SEO. Marketing is one of those tasks where you can apply almost everything you know to it.

It's not what you know, it's who you know.

Stop thinking only about helping yourself achieve your goals, and start thinking helping others help you achieve your collective goals.

This is a pretty vague comment, care to elaborate?

You can have the pictures as thumbnails on your main page and then have them blow up as the user's mouse hovers over it.

Is this a plugin on word press? Are there any good plugins that I should definitely look at?
