Graphic Giveaways: What Wordpress Theme to Use?

Hi everyone,

I need some advice...

I have been running a site that gives away free graphic related items for 7 years now, but it's a regular html site. I would like to switch over to Wordpress, but I cannot seem to find a theme that I like that will work well for this.

What I am looking for is many thumbnail images on the home page, a featured area at the top and most importantly, great Adsense placement areas throughout. Also the ability for visitors to add thier own listings.

On the post pages I need to have a preview of the graphic with a download button, description and maybe ratings and comments.

I have been keeping an eye out for something like this and have invested quite some time looking, but I cannot find the perfect theme.

Does anyone know of a Wordpress theme that has these features? I would like to go with a theme that is already available and not a custom theme made just for the site if possible

    I think most of the features you need can be made available with all the Wordpress themes. You can look for some free themes which are available and can be customized so that you can have the features you need. Also, it will be a great benefit to you if you choose a Linux hosting plan with cPanel control panel as you will be able to install and update Wordpress easily through Fantastico which is available in cPanel.

      Well, I'd look maybe for some plugins for the thumbnail images. You can set the home page to any page on the site.

      Featured areas are typically found on Magazine style themes, Adsense can be coded in where ever you want it really.

      Ability for visitors to add their own listings, hmm, well that might need some kind of classified type thing going on.

      Your graphic preview and download and ratings, etc some of this can be done with plugins, but I also know there are specific scripts meant for photographers that are not wordpress so this may be something to look into as well.

      I guess the question is, are you willing to hire out to have some customization done or are you looking to do all of this yourself?
