What would make you rate a Service 5-Star?

Hey all!

So you may or may not know, I've quit my job and I'm working online full time now. This is daunting, however I personally feel that it is also doable!

Now my primary income at the moment is the content writing service that I've set up, which is purely me writing for folks... SEO articles and the like.

But I'm wondering... what would compel you guys to rate a service 5 Star?

Sincerely... If my sole source of income is the service I provide in this highly competitive industry, then I need to be the best I can be... so fire away!

I want to make up that extra star

What are your thoughts ladies and gents?

My experience as a writer might help you out a bit... I've found people are most impressed by three things:

--High quality. Speaks for itself, really... they don't want to edit your article before it's usable to them. If you can write better than them, you're automatically high quality to them.

--Fast turnaround. Think about it from a site creator's point of view... by the time they have the idea in mind of exactly what articles they want written, they're probably planning to use them sometime this week. Making them wait a week is bad service unless they have full warning before they ever order.

    --Clear communication.
Being friendly, fast to respond to their inquiry and order, and giving them a date when they can expect the articles to be turned around will soothe many buyers' "jitters". Being professional doesn't necessarily mean that you have to speak very formally in emails, though... I use a lot of smilies and friendly language, because I think of myself as a partner in their success, and it shows.

I'm sure there are other factors that are important, such as trust, but I think nailing these three things can help you go a long way to being one of those 5-star people.

Edited to add: Oh yeah, and "good customer service" falls under clear communication, too. If they're not happy with your articles, offer to rewrite them free of charge. That's way above and beyond what they're expecting.

The truth of this is rather breaktaking.

Zabrina & Ramone hit the proverbial nail on the head hear Toniy. Consistency, professionalism, and speed are key in the article writing business. As a former freelance writer I had noticed a dramatic upsurge in requests and orders. Upon seeing this I sent out to my clients a mini survey asking them what they liked most about my service to them. About 82% (out of 100+ clients) said the liked my writing style.

I write from an insider's view of a product or service. Often putting in both the pro's and con's something may have in my content. The content of course would always rectify the con's by pointing the reader to my client's website. This was my "knack" so to speak and helped me stand out from the rest of the competition.

No doubt you too Toniy have a special quality to your writing, all you have to do is identify it...exploit it. I assure you that if it's done correctly your sales will soar faster than you can create them son. Best of luck to you and congratulations on your freedom from the "Grind".

Ramone-Johnny - Ah, Johnny always good to hear from you! Thanks for the template, I could definitely use that... you got a big heart

Tradetheflow - Good advice Pete... I think it's perhaps that little something extra that I'm looking for... the quality, communication and turnaround time are all good... perhaps I should lower the clients' expectations!

Zabrina - Thanks again Zabrina, I do appreciate it. Just looks like it's time to implement some clever marketing! Man, I gotta stop writing in these threads, my client base could see :p

Rosegrower76 - I felt the same way actually... so simple, but such a substantial shift in thinking. From there it's just about accentuating the value!

Jacob Hargreave - You're a good man, thankyou. I think it might be time to develop my brand... I know I'm good enough and at least this way I can provide some consistency!

          Thank you all, stay well!

    Very nice Zabrina

Well, my article quality is top notch, that's why I chose to do this rather than web design... which I would be horrible at :p

My turnaround time varies with workload obviously, but I've finished my last handful of projects within 24 hours of submission... however letting the client know the expected finish date is something I'd be happy to include actually, nice one!

I make a point of telling my clients that if there's any issue with the writing then I'll fix it straight away at no cost... which I'm more than happy to do.

I think it must just be a case of using more smiley faces!

I guess I must have just left a swear word in one of the articles somewhere

    ^^^Joke...^^^

For a 5 star service I would want to see you deliver on all your promises. Complete the work in time and add that extra little something as a bonus.

This all sounds pretty generic but it works in profession. Do a good job and you get what you deserve.

    ramone_johnny is right here.

What you do if you want to be sneaky is this: you tell them it'll be three or four days... and then you do it in two.

Sounds like you've got the rest down pat... patience is what it may just take, then. Even if you're brilliant, it takes time for people to recognize this and start recommending you and rating you 5 stars and all that fun stuff.

someone who can think outside the conventional box. I don't like hiring a writer who just rehashes the same tips 1000 others already have. put a new spin on it, and come up with something creative.

over deliver on your promises. With writing jobs that would mean order completion times, and quality of writing.

be willing to go above and beyond what other writers will. For example, I had someone hire me to do some seo articles once, and as a total newbie I knew right off the bat her keyword list would be really difficult for her without any prior seo experience, and they weren't really well targeted for buying keywords. So, I did the articles and gave her some suggestions on how she could target better keywords that would be less competitive and more targeted to buyers. It took me all of 20 minutes of extra work, and I got a lot more in return after the fact.

I wouldn't go off the deep end with it, but a little additional support that people don't expect will take you far.

Yeah I see where you're coming from... don't build the campaign and SEO her site entirely for her... but give her the benefit of your experience.

I send out an initial email now telling the client exactly how I plan to SEO the article and give them the choice of making changes. Some ask for a higher keyword density for example.

Fortunately my thread has gone past page 2 now so I can start a new one! I think we've got it covered... like Zabrina said actually... become a partner in their success. Well done, lady

      And thankyou JMPruitt
